Update on Grier

Amy Reports from CMC:

Grier had a visit from Mrs. Leary today, his preschool teacher at First Presbyterian Weekday School. She brought a picture of his classmates and he was able to point them out as he looked at the picture. He was also able to watch some movies and he listened to his Razzmatazz CD. All in all it was a good day.

Susan Natale (Laurie Reid's sister) also was a special visitor today. She works at CMC and had taken care of Grier in recovery on Friday. Today was her day off, but she came in to offer her support and expertise. She has also volunteered to come in tomorrow after our next procedure. Thanks, dear Susan.

Grier will have a line put in for treatment and one more test tomorrow (April 1st) at 10:00 am. Hopefully, treatment will begin the first of the week.

Amy writes, "We are trying to get on a sleeping schedule, so please no visitors after 8:00 pm. Jeff and I are so very grateful for ALL that people are doing. It is overwhelming."

You are invited to join a group that will be gathering at Covenant tomorrow morning around 9:40 (during Sunday school) to pray for Grier and the Christenbury family. They will gather on the second floor of the education wing.

GO GRIER GO
Bracelets have been ordered with the slogan GO GRIER GO. We will let you know when they are available and where to obtain them. This will be a great way to cheer Grier on and to serve as a constant reminder to pray for him. Thanks to the friends that were so creative and worked hard to pull this off so quickly.

Grace & Peace,

In anticipation of Jeff or Amy reading this, I’d like them to know that their family and Grier in particular, are in our thoughts and prayers from here. Further, I hope they can gain some measure of comfort and strength knowing there are people who are not physically present with them, but are nevertheless standing nearby in spirit and faith. Cal

Dear Amy, Jeff, Hayes and Grace,

This whole community is so saddened by the devastating news of precious Grier. The picture on the website could not reflect his personality any better! What a love! "Wednesday Night" wasn't the same without you all...Pat and Judy led some of us in some powerful prayer - I hope you could feel the love coming down Morehead Street to CMC.

Amy and Jeff, we love you and support you, we lift you up and are praying faithfully for your strength and courage, we are praying for the medical team responsible for Grier's care and we pray especially for the grace and peace of God's love to surround you, Grier, Grace and Hayes during this overwhelming time.

Keep fighting Grier, we are pulling for you, Buddy!

Love, Nancy, Ralph, Lucy(Grier's #1 fan), MK and Sally

Hi, this is a message from Elliott, one of Grier's classmates. She says "hope you feel better real soon!"

We will certainly lift up your family in prayer. Having spent a few months in the hospital with Elliott, we know all to well how difficult it is to watch your child undergo tests and waiting for results. Hopefully you can find strength that there are many people praying for your family in the days to come.

Grier's Family -
Our daughter Millie is with Grier at the Weekday School.
I had the blog up on my computer and Millie walked in & saw the pictures. She got quite excited and said “That’s my friend, that’s Grier!!” I told her that it was his picture and asked her to tell me about him. “What does he like to do? ”He likes his lunch.” What else, sweetie? Does he like to color or play with the house? “No, he likes his lunch. And he likes his snack!”

I hope he and the rest of the family are back to lunch being the most important part of the day very soon.

Amy and Jeff and family,

We Blantons are thinking of all of you and sweet Grier constantly. I will never forget the day I heard you were pregnant with Grier. Nancy Falls and I were standing in the hallway at Covenant, and laughing/screaming, "No fair! We want another little baby to love!" Once again, I scream, yet in a different way~ "No FAIR!" I wish there was something I could do to take this pain away from you. However, I do know that we have a merciful and loving God~ and He has never been closer to embracing you/touching you than He is right now. We are praying fervently for Grier. We love you all so much! Hannah, Charles, Virginia, Charles and Brown

As I helped unload the children this AM during carpool at First Pres Weekday School, I looked at them all a little differently than the other day... taking in more fully their precious smiles, thankful for holding their hands, appreciating the simple moment of health and well being I am priveleged to share with them. Griers's spirit is alive and well in our hallways, until he joins us again, and in our hearts as we are reminded to take notice of God's simple gifts in our lives and the precious moments of connection with one another.

Dear Amy and Jeff,

As I have prepared today for our family to go away this week on Spring Break, it has been very difficult to get excited about our trip. You all are weighing so heavy on our hearts and it just doesn't seem right for us to be going off on vacation as you all sit by Grier's side in the hospital. I was so glad to visit with Amy, Grier, Janet, the Christenbury's and other friends in the hospital last night and I'm sorry if I pulled one of my regular stunts and overstayed my welcome :) - I just didn't want to leave....We will be on the road early in the morning, but praying in unison with our Covenant family at 9:40! I'm so sorry precious Grier has to endure another procedure tomorrow, but I will pray that he is free of pain and discomfort and that the beginning of the week brings a treatment regimen that puts him on the road to recovery. Keep the faith, everyone - Grier is counting on ALL of us to keep the faith. Keep fighting, little Buddy! We love you all,

Dear Amy and Jeff,
About 10:00 this morning, I was thinking of all of you and had an urge to say - out loud - a prayer for Grier. I asked Claire to join me. Claire asked "why now, instead of at bedtime?"- like any 7 year old would question. I simply told her that Grier needed prayers all day long. She seemed to believe that so we said a prayer.

In reading your update for today, I, myself, now understand exactly why it was important.

We will keep thinking of all of you and praying.

Amy and Jeff,
We just returned from the beach today and one of the first things I did was check this site to hear the latest on sweet Grier. Please know that you all were on our hearts all weekend/week, and we continue to pray for you and for Grier. I am thrilled to hear that he is getting good care and that treatments will start soon.I am sure he has captured the hearts of so many at the hospital! Even Brown is learning at such a young age the importance of prayer. When asked, "Brown, who are we praying for today?" He quickly replies,"My fwine, Geer :)!" We have his picture/your Chrismas photos taped to our frige and you are thought about and prayed for each time we pass/open that frige. (which you know at our home is used quite often!) May God continue to bless you and may you feel His warmth and strength shelter you today and everyday. I love you and am sending you big hugs and smiles to lift you!
