let it sleet... let it downpour!....let it snow!

This picture was taken at 4:30am~ He likes flying like this!
Our day started VERY early! We took off a little before 4:45 and headed to Atlanta to pick up someone-- We got to Newark by 8-- and headed to the Ronald-- didn't get there until 10:00 -- TRAFFIC and a detour-- we think!! We checked in and headed to the room -- called Sloan to see if they could do a CBC and they said we had an appointment @ 9:30-- News to us :)-- so we pack up and went over there- As soon as we left it started sleeting!!! A LOT-- Grier was bundled and under his plastic shield but Jeff and I were getting pelted! We both decided this Northern weather was not for us! We made it inside and did the normal waiting around--- I had forgotten how annoying that is!! Finally, we were called back to do a CBC and instead of using his port they gave him a finger stick!!!!! He was not thrilled! We continued to wait and wait and wait-- until 1 and we saw the nurse practitioner-- Grier was not so happy-- I was trying to explain that nothing "hurts" .. he was just tired from being up since 3:30am!! After meeting with her it was decided his WBC was not high enough to harvest tomorrow-- and he needed platelets!!! So, we waited MORE-- and finally got out of there at 3:45! He was asleep in the stroller when we left-- :) Jeff and I walked him back to the Ronald in a downpour of rain!!! We were drenched-- (not prepared for that weather) when we finally made it back-- Someone even commented-- I guess it is not sunny outside!! Hmm-- It must have been the water dripping off my head to let her know that!!!
We made it to our first meal around 5:30-- still nasty outside so we opted for a close dinner-- even though Lenny's was Grier's request-- We Promised him we would go tomorrow-- so hopefully we will not be in clinic all day again! We are all going to bed early tonight-- it has been a long day!
We have to continue doing shots all weekend to get the WBC high for harvesting--- And Sunday we will have to do a 4 hour urine collection and keep it on ice until Monday morning-- Monday-- if all goes well we will begin harvesting-
Thanks to Hawk Aire for the flight-- we had a great flight attendant .. Chris Wise-- he made our trip!
Bad weather is coming-- so tomorrow we will be over-dressed!!!

Glad you are there safely. We will be thinking and praying very hard for things to go well. Mitch has already started the prayers with one of the teachers in our class. We will continue.
Grier looks so cute in that sweater. Never know it is 4am.
Hope you get some rest and stay warm.
You are close to our hearts,
Love,

What a very long day for you all! I hope the weather looks up for your planned lunch/dinner at Lenny's. I have heard that a stormfront is moving into the northeast. Grab your gear and get going...a promise is a promise!

Hopeful things will look up after the continued shots to help with Grier's immune system. Looking forward to hearing more about your adventures in the city. Don't forget Barney's if you're able to get out. The ornaments from there that I've seen were great...very different. I adore ornaments and surely wish I could go shopping with you. I know how much you hate to shop; but, I would have to force you :)

Thinking of you here in Charlotte and praying for an easy and comfortable stay for Grier...he must be terribly worried that the same thing will take place during this visit. I can only imagine how much angst that sweet boy is in over this trip. I will say that he looks quite comfy in the leather jet seat...don't burst his bubble too soon. He should get to ride "first class" for all he's been through. Kudos to Corporate Angels!

Tons of love to you, dear friends!

Good night to both of my dear friends!

So glad you trip was safe and quick -- even if it did start at 4:45 AM!!!! What a cute picture of Grier -- Carolina blue (LOVE that!) with Santa -- perfect!! He certainly does look happy in corporate land, doesn't he??

Wishes for tomorrow to go smoothly, for the WBC to skyrocket, and for the weather to clear! NYC snow is different from Charlotte snow! Know you will sleep well tonight!

More cute pictures, please!!!

Love and continued prayers for you three in NYC!!

Grier looks great in the beautiful Santa sweater. Glad you arrived safely in NY. Your weather description sounds as though it was made up ..... 76 here today I think. Looking forward to the Polar Express science lab tomorrow. We will do "frosty" experiments (dry ice). Hope all goes well this trip. Go, Grier, Go!!
Oh, the Christmas card is wonderful.
With love and prayers,
Mrs. D.

Oh my - that is a precious photo of Grier! Apparently traveling in style really agrees with him ;)

So sorry about the yucky weather - oh it's awful being cold and wet. Hope it dries out soon and that you can get warm. I bet Lenny's has some good soup to make you feel good!

Love to you all,
