Grier started chemo yesterday around 3pm-- the first dose was done in 2 hours (checking blood pressure every 15 minutes) and then he was given some meds and the 2nd dose.. cisplatin started-- it runs for an hour and then he gets lots of fluid to flush it through his system-- it can damage kidneys-- After that his diaper needed to be changed every two hours to make sure he was OK--- this went on until 7am!-- The best part of yesterday was being able to walk upstairs to the 8th floor and see our new neighbor!!! Everyone was excited to see Leah and David's new baby since we were at CMC it was very easy for us to keep visiting during the day!
He took a long nap today after a pretty busy morning of painting (we have hung his pictures all over the room), and playing concentration with Nurse Judy!!-- I was glad since he was getting a blood transfusion during his nap and sleeping through it is easier for me-- he does not get tangled in his lines as much!! And we do not have the beeping from the pumps!! After the transfusion finished he started the same chemo routine as yesterday-- He is doing well-- today he is a lot quieter than yesterday and he has lost his appetite-- He wants Chinese for dinner so we will see how that goes over!! Grace has been busy at tennis camp this week-- yes! the hottest week of the summer!!! And Hayes has spent lots of time with his friend Henry-- :) We finally found out that the second bone marrow test was clean-- that is what the doctor expected but it was good to know for sure-- Other than that we will have more tests in the coming weeks to see where we are in the battle to get rid of cancer!

Amy,
Great update...hope the Chinese goes over well...what a fun request! I'm glad you have been able to get home for a "breather."
Happy to hear about the test results and that the outcome was as the doctors thought, in a good way...always a blessing to have positive reinforcement.
Just want you to know that I think of you and pray for Grier often.
Any requests for lunch tomorrow or Friday...you or Grier...we'll be out and about. Let me know...I'm great with a list!
Extending love and prayers to you all...
Dina
Amy,
I am sooooo excited to hear that his bone marrow test was clean!!! I said a prayer for him as I read those words. I am so happy to hear that he is doing better with this round so far. Glad he feels up to painting and playing games! We will continue to pray for him and that this round will be easier on him.
And, I LOVE the photo of Grier! He looks so much like you in it- same facial expression and everything! :). Love to you all- The Hatleys
Amy,
Sorry to blog twice in one day; however, the photo was not on the site when I logged on earlier. What a great picture of Grier! Hope you all enjoyed plenty of time on the beach and in the water!

So glad to read the update. I've been thinking about Grier a lot as he started this last round of chemo. Hope the Chinese food went over well! Glad the bone marrow test was clear!
We're still praying for you all!
Cute picture of Grier -- happy boy! So very thankful and happy to hear of the clean bone marrow scan and hope Round 5 continues to go well. I gave a cheer and a big "yes" when I read about the clean scan! My bracelet continues to remind me daily of the courageous fight that your family is waging and know that you will be winners! Home from PA on Thursday and hope you and Grier will be home from CMC on Friday. Stay cool in the heat wave!
Love and prayers always,

What great news to hear! We continually pray for Grier and your family. At least you get to be in cool place this week - not much else is!! Even the pool is getting warm. We had hoped to see Hayes yesterday and join some of his friends at CSRC, but we also know how hectic things can be now. Love the picture too! Blessings to you all!

Amy and Grier and family,
I am working at Curves P/T until school starts and a lady that comes in each day and that goes to Covenant,we were talking, (as I do best) and Little GRIER"S name came up and we just teared up.She, just as I do,she checks the updates everyday just to keep us close to you and Grier and the family. Just to let you know all of Charlotte is praying and thinking about you and the family. It is small world to talk to people and we all have links to the same people and are keeping you in our thoughts each day.
