Grier went to clinic today to have his counts checked-- And they were good-- finally after 20 days of IV neupogen we can stop! Dr. Longee has looked at the scans and read the reports from the MIBG and it shows that the large mass is still active neublastoma cells- But the good news is there is no signs of new tumors right now, the only thing that lit up was the mass-- Now it is more compact than it was in the beginning-- it does not have that pancake shape. He does not think the next round of chemo will do anything to the mass and we need to find a surgeon who can remove this tumor-- Calls are in to Doctors at Duke, UNC, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, so hopefully by next week Jeff, Dr. Longee and I can decide where we are going to remove this tumor-
I am a little dissapointed-- I wanted this mass to not light up at all and be dead cancer cells but knowing that there are no new tumors right now is comforting- We have a really good doctor here and he is treating this case as if Grier was his child- And I can not ask for more-- He is looking for a 5 star surgeon that is going to remove this tumor- We may possibly do radiation but right now it just depends on where we go next for treatment-
On a different note, school has gone well for Hayes and Grace this week-- both are enjoying thier classes-- It has been a little tough to get everything done but I am gradually getting back into the swing of things-- baseball has started and soccer should start soon-- and then we will be busy-- Grier keeps asking when his "cool" starts-- He sees everyone else going and really wants to go too-- His teacher from last year came to visit and that seemed to help-- and he has watched a video of his class singing from last year and loves to show me all his friends--
Thanks to everyone for all the emails, calls, meals, walks and EVERYTHING else this week-- Have a great labor day weekend--
Amy

Amy,
I am so glad there are no new tumors. I am sorry that the tumor is still there. I will prey that Dr. L finds the right surgeon to remove the tumor. I continue to pray for all of you. I just can't imagine how hard it is to manage life with two children and a child with cancer. Please know that Mary Martin and I continue to pray for you and Grier. I hope you get good news about a surgeon soon.
Love,
Leslie Olds
Amy,
I know you must be disappointed to learn that the cells in the tumor are still active, but how wonderful that it has not spread. We will be praying that God will send you to the right surgeon and that the tumor will be easily removed. God be with you all!

Thanks so much for the update. I look for it each day. Grier, you and your family continue to be in our prayers each and every day. We will pray for a wonderful surgeon but are so glad that it's not growing. We love you all. Nancy Williams
Happy to hear there are no new tumors. I know you will make the best decision for Grier and it is great to hear you have such a kind Dr. Stay positive as you always seem too. Prayers are coming at you all the time and we always have you on our minds.

No new tumors is great news! I know that you will find just the right surgeon to remove the existing tumor. I talked briefly with Hayes during class. It was good to see him, but did not see Grace since I was not at school on Friday. Hope that you have a restful and quiet holiday weekend.
Go, Grier, go!
Love,
Mrs. D.
Amy and Family-
We have been thinking of all of you this week getting everyone off to school, going back and forth to the hospital, waiting and waiting for tests to come back. It has been a long but busy week for all of you.
We were all glad to hear that you did get some news even if it was not exactly the news you wanted to hear. We will continue to pray for you all and pray that you can find the perfect surgeon for Grier's surgery.
We hope that you all can enjoy some family time this long weekend and catch your breath from last week.
GO GRIER GO!

Amy,
We just got back into town and I am so glad to see your update. I am hoping and praying that you find just the right doctor for Grier's surgery...how difficult it must be to make this type of decision. You are all in our daily thoughts and I know that Grier will have the very best of the best taking care of him!
Know that whether you are here or elsewhere for the next adventure, you have a friendship base that will travel with you and/or help maintain here in Charlotte. SO many folks are backing Grier 100%!
Looking forward to talking to you soon!

So glad for some good news! I know that you, Jeff, and Dr. L will find that 5-star or even 10-star surgeon who will continue the miracle of Grier's healing! Hopefully Grier can visit "cool" soon before heading off for further treatment. Happy to hear that Hayes and Grace are settled and happy -- so important for you in the whole scheme of Grier's treatment! Loved seeing Grier in carpool -- stop so I can see him any day!
Continued love and prayers!

Amy,
I'm so glad you got some good news, even if it wasn't exactly what you wanted. We will continue to pray for all of you each day and pray that you will find the perfect surgeon. Please know that many people all over the country are lifting prayers up for all of you every day! Go Grier Go!

Amy & Jeff,
I am just now reading your latest entry- we have been out of town. I share in your disappointment that the tumor was not gone/no active cells. But, I am so thankful that it has not spread, and that it is smaller. It sounds like you have wonderful doctors there. Please again know that if you come this way for treatment- long or short- you are welcome to stay at our home for as long as you need to. We continue to pray for you all- and for your continued amazing strength. I hope you will know something soon so you can begin the next phase. We are here to help in any way we can. Give Grier a big hug from us! Love, The Hatleys
