Have a Pleasant Wednesday....

Grier started chemo today around 10:30 am. All went well today. He was alert for the whole day with brief periods of talking and playing and eating! He started the day asking for breakfast from Chick-fil-A!! He took a few bites and drank some OJ- the rest of the day seemed to be a taste test—he would ask for things and take a bite and look for something else to taste. He played with bubbles and stuffed animals and watched movies—GREASE was the latest addition! No, that is not a typo… he likes that movie! He also received a chemo duck and that was a big hit- with he and Grace. It has a port in it and we played doctor with it for a while. Hopefully we will be able to get him out of bed tomorrow—maybe we will go for a wagon ride--

Most people have not heard him talk—especially if you are wearing scrubs!!! He is ignoring everyone that comes in our room with scrubs on !

Hayes and Grace have been busy. I cannot keep up with their schedules- they came here tonight for dinner and we all ate with Grier in the room. Grace was curled up beside him in the bed. She enjoyed that since Grier asked her to hold her hand and I loved it because I had a chance to shower! They are off to the zoo tomorrow with their Uncle and cousin-

Jeff brought up lots of cards that were at our house and we read those after dinner- Thanks to everyone for everything-- Jeff and I can not say that enough—

Time has flown by and we are all confused about what day it is. Anne pointed out that the mats in the elevators say … Have a pleasant (day of the week)! So today, I know it is Wednesday thanks to those mats!!

Dear Jeff & Amy -

You have been on our minds constantly and in our prayers just the same. Praying that this first treatment brings the relief and peace to Grier that we have all been waiting for, especially you. Sounds like things are hopping on the seventh floor...Grease is one of my all-time favorites...let me know if you'd like the soundtrack.

Looking forward to more updates involving Grier's sense of humor...what a fabulous age for great humor! May his love for life shine through and comfort you.

Mitch is enjoying checking the Blog and says, "That's Grier, that's my friend Grier, Mom!" He won't let me close the tab. His connection is precious...Grier is a special friend and Mitch loves him...sweet Grier Christmasberry!

Tons of love to you all from the Givens...

Tell Grier that I can't wait to get sticky with him again! It was so good to see him smile yesterday. The strength that your family has shown over the past week is amazing. Keep the faith, believe in miracles, and GO GRIER GO!

As we begin the greatest holy days towards Easter, it is my deepest prayer that you and your loved ones be comforted at this your hour of suffering. May your little one's joy and humor invade your soul and help you walk in peace. I will add you, your lovely family and specially your Grier to our family prayers. God bless you and keep you safe.

Dear Amy,
Thanks so much for the updates -- your communication has been a lifesaver for me since I am away from Charlotte for spring break. I'm so glad things went well yesterday for Grier's first treatment -- I continue to pray every day for you and your family. I'm so glad Grace and Hayes are there for Grier -- sounds like they are right in the swing of things and helping out in every way! I can just see the smiles when Grace snuggled in bed with Grier! Your family is in my thoughts constantly and I look forward to getting home to see you all.

Love to you all,
Betty G.

Grier is in our thoughts and prayers so often during the day - Thank you so much for letting us know how things go as he begins chemo.

Millie said to her sisters today - Grier is at the doctors' house and they are making him better. She is quite firm in her faith that he will be well and back to jumping with her at school very soon!

Keeping the faith -
Cameron (Millie's Mom)

Greetings from Cody's grandmother (or "Nee" as Cody calls me). Please know you are all in my thoughts and prayers, especially that precious Grier. I can see him now running through the Fellowship Hall towards the dessert table on Covenant Connection night! Bless you all.
