It was his red line!
The nurse came in this morning and said a bacteria grew out in his red lumen-- which makes sense since that was the line used yesterday at home to draw blood for the CBC- so as soon as it was flushed yesterday the germ was pushed to into the blood stream- The NP came in and said to go home he needs to be fever free and they need to have negative blood cultures-- And as soon as they identify the exact germ then we may be able to back off some of the 4 antibiotics he is on !

Well, Amy, I am so glad you have an answer as to why this happened so suddenly. WOW, it doesn't take long, does it? I hope the particular bacteria grow out quickly so you can get him down to one AB and move on to NYC.
Please call me if you need anything at all. I am happy to help you!
Love & Prayers...

Amy,
I was hoping to read tonight and see that you were in NYC. I am so sorry this has happened- but I am so thankful they found out so quickly what was going on and are treating it. Give Grier a big hug from us and tell him we hope he feels better soon and you guys can be on your way to NYC. I have a friend that is a NP in NYC, so I wrote her to see if by chance she knew anyone at SK Hospital that might be a friendly face for you guys!
Tell Grier to tell all those "cooties" to run away!! I hope you know that your strength everyday is what has gotten him through this today and everyday. You have touched so many lives, as we all are so inspired by you. You are Grier's HERO. And ours.
GO GRIER GO!!!!!!!!!
Love, Jennifer H & family
