Hurry up and Wait--
I was hoping to tell you all we started the stem cell harvesting today-- but that is NOT the case-- It was not the counts this time either--- His counts are good-- this time they did not have a space for us! So, it took them 3 hours to figure all this out and then they said to come back tomorrow before 8 and we would start-- They also said to continue to give the shots-- not once a day but twice a day @ triple the dose-- so his WBC was 6.1 today-- can not wait to see what it is tomorrow morning--- WAITING has been the hardest part since we got here-- and it looks like we are in for more WAITING!!! After we left the clinic today, we went to Johnny Rockets for lunch-- Grier likes it--- so that is all that matters these days! After lunch we walked around a little-- it is very windy and cold-- Grier is so bundled he loves to go for walks-- he always falls asleep in the afternoon!! Jeff and I just freeze!!! The picture shows how much stuff is protecting him from the cold as we walk around the city- Hopefully we will start collection in the morning-- and possibly have some idea how many days this will take- NY is magical at Christmas time without the other distractions we are dealing with-- It does not quite feel like Christmas here but I am sure when we get home it will!
The picture on the left is Grier during the 4 hour collection-- He earned a "coin" every time he went in the cup!! Nothing like a crash course in potty training!!! You can also see the "view" from the Ronald :)

Amy, he looks so precious and cozy in his stroller! I like Johnny Rockets too :) All that waiting must be so hard - I hope tomorrow everything goes smoothly. And I hope you get to come home soon. Stay warm and take care,
Stacy Sparks
The pictures just keep getting better. I am so sorry to hear you are playing the waiting game. They must know they are dealing with very kind people so that is why you are the ones waiting.
I am telling you. All this is going to add up to something great.
I hope you all get some good rest. Looks like Grier was pretty comfortable.
I hope Hayes and Grace are well at home with Maggie. I know they miss you but I pray you will all be home together soon.
Lots of love and prayers,
The Paine's
Baby, it's cold at home too! Love the pics -- keep them coming! So sorry you are having to wait, wait, wait, but sounds like tomorrow is a go! So happy the WBC is up, up, up! All your nursing is working -- you're doing things you never imagined you could do and doing them so well -- we're all so proud of you and Jeff and the fabulous care you are giving to Grier! He's a lucky guy!
Hope the harvesting goes fast and you will be coming home soon. Christmas is magical in NYC, but it's even more magical at home and I know that's where you'll be a week from tonight -- all together in your warm, comfy home. Christmas will have an extra meaning this year for sure!
Sleep well tonight at the Ronald and we'll be praying for swift harvesting tomorrow!
Love and prayers as always,
Betty G
He is sooo cute!! He looks better and better with every picture. Wow what a rise in the WBC. Hope harvesting goes quickly. Stay warm! Victoria
Hello! The waiting game stinks; however, I can think of worse places to have to wait. You always have the best attitude and outlook...sure glad you are making the best of your days together...waiting! It sure is chilly here as well; so, you're not missing out on any warm weather.
Grier looks terrific! I am delighted that you've found a new spot to eat. I'm sure Lenny's is good; however, variety is the spice of life. I'm certain a 3-yr old does not share the same view...Mitch certainly would not! With all that walking, you're probably finding more than enough places to "check out!" Enjoy!
How frustrating that Grier's counts were good yet there was "no room at the inn." You must have been ready to flip your lid...you're a better person than I could ever hope to be. I guess you find that being polite and patient will get you further. I would certainly have to learn the very hard way. Hoping tomorrow begins the harvest. Sorry for the continued twice/daily shots :( for you and Grier.
Thinking of you all with love and hope as we near this Christmas!
Good night dear friends...
Dina
We printed out that sweet picture of Grier on Santa's lap and put it on our Christmas board. We're always thinking of him and of all of you.
We saw Hayes and Grace play an excellent game of ping pong at Providence Baptist before Saturday's basketball game !
Good Luck with everything in NYC.
The Todds
