100 posts on this blog!

I can not believe I have posted 100 times on this blog--! Who would have ever dreamed I would be a blogger? Not me!

Today went fine -- we raced over for an 8:00 appointment.. not to be seen until 9-- And then left for awhile and came back at 2:00 for a quick injection of radionactive dye but they did not call us back until about 3:30-- When the man said "Grier Christenbury" ... Grier yelled ..."that is me" and hopped up to follow him! The waiting room was packed with people ( kids and adults)-- and kept getting more crowded as they got behind schedule- We met a family from Charlotte who has been doing this journey for 5 years in the waiting room- That is about all we know today-- still too soon to give out more info!

It rained most of the day-- so we walked around our "hood"-- I am almost embarrassed to tell you we have eaten at Lenny's -- 4 times!! Grier wants to go their every lunch and get turkey!! We did breakfast there after the early appointment today so that is 4 times!!! We did venture out to a BBQ place for dinner tonight-- Jeff need some sweet Tea~ and it was pretty good-- even Jeff said the greens were good-- Grier was thrilled with corn on the cob and chicken!

Tomorrow we have to be at the day hospital by 8:00 am again-- This time it is anesthesia-- and the MIBG scan and the dreaded bone marrow aspirations-- this will be done in 4 locations-- front and back hips-- I hope he is not in too much pain this weekend since we will have visitors on Saturday--

We have a flight to come home Wednesday night-- we are also waiting to see if they can get us home Tuesday instead-

Thanks for all the emails and blogs-- we are missing Charlotte-- I even called Dr.Longee today to ask a question-- It was good to hear some familiar voices at the clinic- that know our family and Grier-

ps-- Jeff needs to thank the writers of Seinfeld-- because without that show he would not know anything about NYC :) And he swears he spotted Bo Derek when we were on 5th avenue-- :)

one day at a time--
Amy

Hoping all goes well tomorrow with those procedures. Enjoyed meeting Grace and your Mom at the Freedom Park event. I thought it was so cool how all the positive energy was "rising" just as you were lifing off the ground! Lots of people are asking about you at FP...you are never out of our thoughts,
Madeline

Amy- You are a gifted blogger- who knew? And those of us reading your candid and valuable entries are so fortunate. You share about your daily events, but in how you do so, you share yourself and that is so powerful.
You guys seem to have taken to NYC like nobody's business. Love the Seinfeld comment-- perhaps Jeff should start watching "Sex in the City" re-runs, then he'd really have the city down pat...and be amused in the process.
Grier is such a champ- I swear that he is eating better than Tyler and Wilson combined! - which is great.
Love to you all and big thoughts and prayers through tomorrow's big tests and beyond,
Alex

Thanks for the update. We continue to think and pray for you each and every day.

Sweet Tea in NYC??!! I checked out the caring bridge site and love the photos there. Since I know how to blog here I took the easy way out and am writing here again:). I know that you all will be thrilled to have your family together this weekend.

I am glad that Jeff watched Seinfeld too…you need to go to the soup kitchen!

I hope tomorrow goes well and that Grier is pain free.

Love,
Troy

PS Sara Beth’s is good for breakfast…but there is only one really good one and it is on Madison next to (or in…you can enter it from the street) the Whitney. Not sure if you are anywhere near it but if you are it is really yummy!

Amy,
If you remember Fieval the mouse from the movie, An American Tail, he is missing his family and the song goes:

And even though I know how very far apart we are,
It helps to think we might be wishing on the same bright star.

And when the night wind starts to sing a lonesome lullaby,
It helps to think we're sleeping underneath the same big sky.

Whenever I miss my kids, I think of this song and know that in our hearts we are close to one another.

So no matter how far apart you are from Grace and Hayes, you are close in your hearts. After all it's raining on us (yay!!) and on you, so they can't be that far away!

Prayers for Grier with his procedures and for you and Jeff as you wait for the end of the procedures and take care of Grier in the aftermath.

So glad you found good turkey sandwiches and sweet tea! what more could you ask for in NYC???

Love and hugs tonight, as always.

Amy,

Hoping and praying for ease tomorrow for Grier with the testing. He is BEYOND courageous and brave, as you stated in the newspaper:) Grier is first-class and deserves every bit of the "star" treatment he's received during this trip to NYC...jet plane, shopping at FAO Schwarz (Brangelina was there a few weeks ago I saw in US magazine), having breakfast, lunch and dinner at quaint hot spots throughout the city (obviously, he would rather be playing baseball in the front yard)! You're all amazing and I sure hope you realize how inspirational you are to everyone who has come in contact with you. There is no one stronger than your family...Grier, you and Jeff, Hayes and Grace. Our love is with you in hopes that you can feed off of us to sustain your energy and come through this on top of the world! Yes, your family is forever-changed; however, we all are and we have you to thank for that...keeping us aware and informed and helping us understand the true importance of love of family, friendship and community. How rare you are and we thank you for including us in your journey!

When Abby went to Starter Camp this summer at Seafarer, I was a mess by day 2 (drop-off was Sunday and I was ready to retrieve her by Monday evening). Absence makes the heart grow fonder...enjoy every moment of this weekend with the children all in NYC! I will be thinking of the memories you'll be creating and the fun you will have together. Hopeful that Grier will feel well after tomorrow's tests and be in rare form for the weekends festivities!

Love to you all...
Dina

Hang in there Amy, I know you all must be exhausted! We are all thinking of Grier and we will miss Grace (THE RINGER) at soccer this weekend. I am sure she will be thrilled to be with you.

We are routing for your team!

Hope the weather improves so you can venture out a little more.
Thanks for the blogs. Wish there was something we could help with, since we aren't in Charlotte.
You are in our thoughts and prayers.
