The beeper went off around 4:30--- and Jeff and I knew it was going to be really good or bad-- it seemed to early to be done-- We went to a room and was met by the nurse liaison who was also beeped-- She quickly tried to help ease our worries-- She went to see why we were beeped-- When she came back she found out Dr. LaQ- had to call a neurosurgeon in to help with some small areas on the nerves of the spine-- we had to sign a consent form for that--
All is finished now, the tumor is out and they are closing him up to get ready to be transported to PICU across the street-- I will ride in the ambulance with him AND JEFF WILL WALK ACROSS TO MEET US-
So, from what we can tell the surgery went well-- and we hope and pray that he does not have any paralysis from the area on the spine-as there always is a remote chance according to the doctor- It is still going to be a long road for recovery but we were prepared for a 8-12 hour time frame and it turned out to be much less- We will update later--

Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers-- we still need them-

Dear Amy and Jeff,
I just wrote on the CB website too, but I know Grier Christenbury has too many baseball games in his future. We will pray specifically for no paralysis and hope that his time in the PICU is restful and without any hiccups. Love to you all and thank you, thank you for the updates. Nancy

Amy and Jeff,
I have been praying for Grier and the two of you all day. Last night I requested prayer from my bible study group and youth group, and my mom requested prayer from the church.I just got home from work and read the blog. It sounds like everything went well with the surgery. Praise God! Let me know if there is anything I can do for you and Jeff. You know, Kyle is just a phone call away and just a train ride away from you all. I will continue to pray that there is no paralysis, that they got all the tumor, and that Grier has a peaceful recovery. I hope you and Jeff are able to get some rest. I will keep checking the blog for updates....and there's always Kristie! I love all of you!! Debbie

Amy & Jeff,

I know this was THE LONGEST day of your life and we are so thankful if is now almost behind you and seems to have gone well! We have thought about you so often and especially today as I know how helpless you feel just waiting and praying. I know you will be relieved to see Grier, give him a big kiss and just sit with him.
We hope and pray Grier's recovery will go as smooth and quick as his surgery.

Much love and many prayers are sent your way.

Amy,

So glad the surgery went quicker than expected. Grier will be on our minds non-stop until we know there is no paralysis and the tumor is completely gone. What a blessing that a neurosurgeon was readily available to fill in where needed! We are thinking of you all this evening as you head to recovery...hopeful that Grier will wake happy and healthy!!

Thank you for allowing us to share this day with you...our love surrounds you and our hearts remain focussed on Grier's healing road ahead!

Love & Prayers...
Dina

I knew good news was forthcoming --I just know that faster surgery means faster recovery! So many people prayed for you, Jeff, and Grier all day that we all knew God was with you and was holding Grier in His hands during surgery.

Now our prayers will turn to the recovery room tonight and over the next weeks. Hope you'll be able to be with him in recovery -- seeing his beautiful face will make your hearts sing!

I too have checked the blog all day long and will continue to do so as long as you blog. You have ministered to all of us and I thank you for that. We're here to do whatever you need -- just put out the word!

Grace, peace, love, and prayers tonight to you and your family and especially the little baseball guy.

Love to you all,
Betty G

Praise the Lord! I am so happy to hear that the tumor has been removed and that Grier's surgery was fewer hours than had been anticipated. Grier has not left my heart's mind once today, as can be said for so many lifting you all up in prayer. I am moved beyond words to know your little warrior made it safely out of surgery. We won't stop praying. We love you all very much!

Dear Amy and Jeff,
You have been in my thoughts and prayers all day and we have anxiously awaited news this afternoon. We prayed yesterday in Sunday School for your family, for your faith, for the medical team, and for those who will care for all of you while you are far from home. God bless you all for your strength and faith. You will stay in our prayers! Love in Christ, Robin, Mike, Morgan and Ian Goodson

Thank you for your updates Amy. There are so many people pulling for you-cyberspace was busy today. My sister worked on the 7th floor/ pediatrics of New York Hospital/Cornell for many years and she thought very highly of the nurses/doctors who healed kids from all over the world...you will be in good hands! I hope you will be able to get some rest, though I know that is very challenging in the hospital.
Thinking of you!
God Bless,
Madeline

Amy and Jeff,
I wrote the last blog while too much was going on around here. We had painters at the house, two play dates, fighting siblings and a parent walk in to pick up one of the children. (Probably not the best time to be blogging.) I was anxious and excited to find out how surgery was going though. I now have everyone in bed and am having a little quiet time. I am so glad that the surgery went quickly and smoothly and that y’all are in recovery. You have not left my thoughts all day and I will continue to pray for healing and strength for precious little Grier. I hope you and Jeff will be able to get some rest at some point tonight.

Love you all,
Troy

So glad you felt peaceful today... you were certainly being lifted way, way up in prayer. I continue to hold all 5 of you in my prayers, and will specifically ask for no paralysis, no infection, and lots of rest for you all. And more peace. Thanks so much for updates...it helps know what to ask God for! Am so grateful this surgery is over & went relatively quickly, and now you can focus on healing. The Pedigos

Amy,

I didn't get to check the blog until now but you have all (in NY and Charlotte) been in my thoughts today. I had a Medical Terminology test AND a Nursing quiz today so I am afraid that 12:00 came and went. I was in the middle of a study group when my brain started working again...we all stopped what we were doing and each said our own prayer to keep Grier safe, steady the surgeon's hand and to have peace and love surround you all.
Love,
Frances

THANK YOU LORD!!! I was so happy that the surgery would be today..I think it is hard to wait for weeks or months...and I am SOOO glad that the surgery was over by 5:00. It has been a joy tonight to call pray-ers and tell them the news...and to specifically ask for prayers regarding the spinal cord.

Bless you and Jeff, dear Amy. Your faith and stamina amaze me. I am HOPEFUL for a full recovery and great days ahead (though I will continue to offer prayers often each day!).

Love, Julie Babb

PS - I continue to pray for Hayes, 'Gwace Cwistenbury' and your mom too!

Dear Jeff and Amy,
Day by day, little by little, we pray that Grier will continue to win this long, too long of a battle with this horrible disease.

The littlest progress is still progress and we join with so many others to sing to the love of God and His power over that which steals life and joy.
Go Grier, Go.
Go God, Go.
Go swiftly and gently over his precious life with mending hands and healing whispers.

In His precious name,
Drew, Nibal, Elias, Moussa and Leila
