We are in NYC!

All went well today as we packed for this trip-- I would say vacation but that it is NOT! We had lunch with family and friends and then said our Good-Byes-- Grace had a hard time but I think she is doing better-- Bill drove us to the airport and waited for us to board the Wachovia plane-- Grier really liked watching the planes land and was really excited when our plane landed-- He had a great flight and everyone was impressed with his behavior-- they could not believe that he was 3! Thanks to Wachovia for sharing the extra seats with us!
We arrived in Newark and an old friend, Charlie Higgins met us at the hanger-- We loaded his car with bags and set off for the upper east side-- it was fun to catch up with him -- Thanks Charlie!!!
We checked into the house and that was the first time-- I was having trouble with my game face for Grier!! Grier had fallen asleep in Charlie's car and woke up and wanted to go home--- Actually I was right there with him-- but we made it through-- took our mandatory tour of the house and ventured out for a bite to eat-- I am not even goiing to tell you where--
We came back to the ronald and to our surprise we had a gift from The friou's-- Grier loved his taxi--and bear and I love the folder of places to get things that I am sure to need!! There were little pumpkins in the bag so our room has a halloween feel--
Needless to say I am exhausted and Grier is still awake!!!!!

Last but not least-- I heard today was great-- I have listened to a brief video of the Bad Daddies-- and seen pictures--Thanks so much-- We are overwhelmed by the support!!
I wil update tomorrow --we are going to explore a little--

The "Festival in the Park" was fabulous and we were all so proud to be there for your family! There were fans from Cov, ETES, First Pres, baseball, neighborhoods, and people just walking through the park who stopped and asked what the celebration was all about and stayed to listen to the Daddies! Glad the flight was good and you had Charlie's friendly face at the end. Love and prayers as you begin your wonderous week in NYC. Your blog means the world to all of us here at home -- thanks! Go Grier Go!

I am so glad you made it safe and sound! The picnic was awesome! The overwhelming support was wonderful. You can't possibly imagine how much all of you are loved by so many. Try to wrap yourself in that love as you go on day by day. I will be thinking of you today as you embark on the next step of your journey. Just remember that God is with you - along with your entire Covenant family!

Love and prayers,
Lesley Shroyer

Amy,

So many friends and family are sharing your apprehension with you, Jeff & Grier. I'm glad you kept your "game face" on...you're an inspiration to us all...even though it's where you've landed, not chosen. Words can not express the love, friendship and genuine caring that was present yesterday at Freedom Park. Nancy, Jeanna, Hannah, The Bad Daddies, and everyone involved did a fantastic job...everyone had a blast!

Glad everything went well on the flight and that you landed safe & sound in NYC. Hope everything is good today as you venture out to explore the city...strolling is not the easiest there...I'm sure Grier will pave his own way, however!

Love & Hugs to you all...
Dina

Oh Amy - so glad you're in NYC safe and sound. Big thank you to Charlie ... and give Katherine a hug when you see her too!

What a great time at the park yesterday - only thing missing was you! The party was all "YOU" -- lots of people celebrating life and sending love to your family. It was an amazing witness to the love that you have spread through this city over the years.

You are close in our hearts even though you are now far away. We love you all. Give Jeff a big hug from all of us.

Love, the Hendersons

People here in their comments have done a great job describing how special the Go Grier Go gathering in the park was yesterday! I know that a lot of people who worked to put that together read this so I'd like to send out a Big Thank You to them for providing us all the opportunity to be together like that. It was a Really special time.
Good Luck Grier, Amy and Jeff in NYC. We're always thinking of you.
We'll be wearing our Go Grier Go Red Sox hats all the way through the World Series .... Hope Grier has a little space there to play some baseball.

Jeff, Amy and Grier,
Sorry you missed the festivities at Freedom Park but Hayes and Grace seemed to be having a blast as did everyone we talked to. What a beautiful day! You are in our continued thoughts and prayers. Thanks for the updates.
Fondly,

Amy, Jeff, Grier, Hayes and Grace,

You all are contantly in my prayers and I am hoping for a trip full of good news in NYC! I know it is hard for Hayes and Grace to be here in Charlotte, but they are surrounded by people who love them, as are you in spirit!

Love,
Frances Sanford

Hey Amy, Jeff, and Grier!

I cannot explain/describe the deep love, thoughts and emotions that were present at Freedom Park on Sunday!! It was truly overwhelming. The Bad Daddies, Jeanna, Derann, Mark and Nancy and everyone else did a fantastic job.

I'm sure you heard the children were on stage with the Bad Daddies as well. They added even more 'flava' and fun while we all cheered Grier on. When you all return back to Charlotte, I'm going to officially donate/sign Grier up for some professional dance lessons from the "Thomas Cashion School Of Dance!" I will have to show you some moves he taught me when you get back! :)

The Blanton's hearts are full of hope and extra prayer this week. We are sending good thoughts and prayers to his team of NY docs, too.

Thanks for keeping us updated on all of your activities. Love to you 3!
