Should I start by saying... I hate 3F8 Mondays... or I hate cancer--- or just both!!
Today was harder than the first time we did the antibody treatment--
It started with the brisk -9 degrees walk to MSKCC--then the dreaded finger stick!! That always starts the day in a bad mood-- Then we WAITED-- Mondays are very crowded because everyone is getting ready for their treatment plan for the week-- by 12:00-- the 3F8 started and soon after the puking started ( this caught us off guard-- the silkie, grey cat was ruined for the treatment).. then the oxygen problems and then the low blood pressure 55/36?-- all happened almost all at once--- He did not recover until about 6pm-- and we walked back -- and he just got up!! It is 8:31-- so we can say we had an eventful day!! And they said we had a great day!! REALLY???
We did get a call from Corporate Angels-- the first call was a flight for Monday evening at 9:00pm--- I told them .. NO thanks--I will be home by then!! And then they called back and had something for Saturday night @ 9:00pm-- not my ideal plan-- but I told them we would take it-
Well-- As I finish this blog I am happy to report Grier is at least sitting upright--!! He asked for a drink-- so he is gradually coming back from the narcotic haze he was in!!
Thanks for all the Valentine's!! When we returned from the hospital tonight we had a mound of boxes and cards by our door!! He has had a good time opening the cards-- and enjoying the gifts-- his new favorite is Valentine's Day candy corn from Dylan's candy store!! And Cars fruit snacks-- That may be his dinner tonight-- whatever he wants .. right?
sorry for the scattered thoughts-- I must be tired!!!

WOW -- what a day! You deserve to be TIRED! Just kick back, eat a bag of Cars fruit snacks, and watch Grier open Valentines! You deserve to put your feet up and have a stiff one (does the Ronald allow that???). I'm so sorry that Grier had a rough day too; however, glad that he is now awake and somewhat hungry. Did he sleep through the COLD walk back tonight? Hope so -- BRRRR, really -9 degrees??? Can't imagine such cold -- just hope all the love and well wishes from Charlotte are warming you tonight!
Saturday night is definitely better than Monday and we will keep fingers crossed that another flight comes up for you on Friday! Know you are so looking forward to getting home and settling into a home routine again.
I'm so glad that Grier is being bombarded with valentines and goodies of all kinds -- you both as well as Grier deserve all the love that is being sent through those valentines.
Snuggle up tonight to keep warm, and know you are ever in my thoughts and prayers.
Love and hugs,
Betty G
hang in there amy! one day under your belt. i pray tomorrow is a better day.
charlotte is waiting for you with open arms- gives you something to look forward to!
Tired? You must be exhausted! Far too much to have to go through in one day. I'm sorry this was considered a good day...I sure hope you only have AWESOMELY FANTASTIC days for the remainder of the week! You all sure deserve that.
No one enjoys a finger stick...I'm right there with you, Grier! What a rotten way to start the day/week. Amy, you have EVERY RIGHT to be fed up with the trip, the cancer, the lack of research, the EVERYTHING right now. Flat out: it sucks! (Sorry for all of the prim and proper folks out there). I'm with you. I'm also with you in knowing that Grier can and will beat the NB and he WILL be back to himself after this treatment and you won't remember so well all of this in a few years. Yes, that's a long time; however, this will certainly all be worth every moment when you can't recall the year and dates that you were sure you would never forget.
You're doing very well under the circumstances...so much better than ANYONE else I know would do!! You are on my mind and in my heart non-stop each day. Grier is amazing and his precious little being will come out of this shining with a light so bright we'll never forget just how awesome his courage and tenacity has been.
Hoping the week progresses quickly and that you're able to get home on Friday.
Sleep well, dearest friend!
Love...
Dina
