We have had two days at home and they have been great EXCEPT for the nighttime-- Grier is having some residual pain from 3F8 and it seems to hit at bedtime!! So.. we are very sleep deprived at our house!
The good news is Grier had no problem swallowing the 3 pills today-- It surprised me!
He swallowed the first one and I checked in his mouth and it was gone... then the second one was swallowed... checked his mouth and it was gone! That helps so much...
We have started our new routine of using a ton of lotions (unscented like aquaphor!)..accutane causes severe dry skin.. peeling.. and cracked lips! It also causes headaches and mood swings.. ie. temper tantrums! I am not sure I will be able to tell if it is the pill or just the fact he is 3!
He has a ton of energy!! We have spent a lot of time outside playing baseball, golf, riding bikes, and driving his F150! The weather has been great... such a difference from NY!
I will update on Thursday after we go to the clinic...
Amy

Hope you are all sleeping as I write this ...
Sorry to hear that nights have not been restful and that Grier is still having some pain. Hope it will lessen as the days go by. Brian took accutane for acne in high school and even though people said it causes mood swings, we didn't notice it so perhaps Grier's unhappy periods are due to being 3 and having gone through unimagineable procedures to all of us! The dryness was very true -- he used and I still use Cetaphil.
Glad Grier got some outside playtime over the weekend and glad you're home in the sunny and warm South. Enjoy your days with H&G back in school.
Love and contnued prayers,
Betty G
Sorry to hear about the tantrums and severe dry skin and lips...what a bummer for sweet Grier. I certainly understand the medication vs. typical 3-yr old behavior...we're doing the typical 4-yr old behavior at our house at times. Hope this passes sooner than later.
Glad to know you're enjoying the beautiful weather.
Hope the nighttime pain subsides so you ALL can get some much needed rest.
Thinking of you constantly...love,
Dina
Although I have not blogged it does not mean I have not been thinking of you all. I have been away from a computer for a few days. I am so happy to read things are going fairly well. Sorry about the mood swings. Don't we all have them.
I hope you will all get some well deserved rest. Remember we are at your service if the need arises.
Take care and as always you are in our hearts and prayers,

Praying for all of you daily!!

Hello, Amy and Grier,
I only now discovered your blog and website. Ours is caringbridge.org/visit/matildajade
Their stories are so similar, like so many of our NB families, that I wanted to tell you this one thing: Yes, you will know the difference between toddler tantrum and accutane tantrum! Just multiply normal toddler tantrum by a factor of 5 or 10... scary, but true! One time, towards the end, Matilda took off her shoe and threw it at me (good thing it was only a size 8!) and later when my back was turned she came up behind me and bit me on my tush! She was 3.5 yrs old then. She is 4.5 yrs old now, has been NED for 15 months, and is back to her usual adorable and affectionate self -- except for the occasional NORMAL tantrum!
The mood swings went from mild to severe as the courses of accutane progressed. But they faded away quickly once the treatment was done.
Holding Grier and your family in our best thoughts,
