Today started before the sun was up just like the last 7 days!!! And with Christenbury luck-- we had a glitch!! Grier was in the IV room to be hooked up to his IV pole--- and they went to flush one of his lines and noticed it looked like it was "dirty"--- after washing it off with an alcohol pad--- it became clear the white tubing was leaking because it had a cut in the line--- After almost a year the hickman he had finally worn out!!!!!! I was a little panicked at first because of the thought of an infection in the blood stream-- but he did not have a fever-- they put gauze on the line and used the second tube-- Whew!!! I also thought they were going to have to start an IV in his arm!! So.. It was a very good thing they were pulling that line today--- Perfect Timing!
Grier finished radiation - woke up from anesthesia and sleep for a bit in his stroller--- then we took him to the OR around 9:30 to be sedated again for the mediport surgery-- he was done and in recovery by 11:30-- and we went back to the PDH for a quick check up-- then back to the Ronald by 3pm--- He is doing fine-- he does not like bandages-- so seeing the two new ones on his chest is a big deal--- but we quickly got him dressed so they are out of sight out of mind--hopefully the soreness will be controlled by the medicine--
We have the changing of the guard tomorrow--- Jeff comes to NYC and my mom is back in CLT!!! We will have a low key weekend --preparing for the 2nd round of 3F8-- And then hopefully home by the 15th!

Oh, I hope you'll be home by the 15th -- Charlotte will welcome you back!
So happy that today went smoothly and what a miracle that his Hickman was coming out today anyway!! God works in miraculous ways, doesn't he? What a day you and Maggie must have had getting Grier here and there for all his procedures. And what a strong little guy to withstand all that and come up smiling this afternoon!
Glad Jeff will be there with you next week and Maggie will be home with H&G. I know he is anxious to get there tomorrow!
Hope your weekend is slow and easy and you all get some good sleep! Take care, love and hugs to you all!

How great to think that you may get home by the 15th. You can celebrate Valentine's in New York and at home. Know the changing of the guard and having Jeff there will make for a very nice and hopefully restful weekend.
Thanks as always for the lift you give us by keeping us informed.
God bless you one and all!
Martha M.
Sorry you had a scare but glad things went smoothly. I know Jeff will be glad to be with you and Grier. I am sure the supersibs will love to see Maggie. Then hopefully the 15th will bring you all together again.
Hope tonight is restful,I am sure 5:30 comes way too fast.
Sleep well,

Whoa! Talk about timing! So glad all went well today with the surgery...what a blessing.
Praying that Grier will not need the bandages long so that this will not be a stress factor for him or for you. He's quite a guy to withstand all that he has...just today even!
Hopeful the crazy sound in the wall is absent on weekends so you all might get some sleep that I'm sure is needed. Stress will wear you out...take good care of yourselves. I'm sure having your mom there was terrific on a day like today...please say "hello" for me!
Sleep well, dear friend! Lots of love to you ALL...
Dina
Amy and Grier:
Loved the pic with Grier and James. Saw him win his Best in Show award last year. Don't know who is cuter-- Grier or James. So happy that you will be home by the 15th (with luck) and that Grier has bounced back after the multiple procedures in the past few days. Will pray for the 3 of you to have a low key restful weekend with energy to face the new week. With love,
Mrs. D.
