We had a clinic appointment today at 10 -- Grier ended up needing platelet and hemoglobin transfusions-- he had a reaction to IV benadryl -- he was inconsolable for about 40 minutes-- and around 4:30 while he was napping he started to feel warm-- I was hoping it was because he had been sleeping on me since 3:00-- but just to be sure we were admitted around 5:30-- we went through the same drill-- chest x-rays, blood cultures and now we just wait it out 3 days-
He still has a fever tonight so I am glad we got to the tower around 6pm instead of coming home and going in the middle of the night-- The more I read about Neuroblastoma the less days like today surprise me-- it seems to be par for the course!
On a brighter note-- Hayes hit a homerun ( his first out of the park!!) last night-- you can see a picture of him on www.dyaa.net!!

Amy,
Glad to hear you were in the right place at the right time...middle of the night hospital runs are the pits, as you well know also. Hope Grier is feeling a bit better today and that you're able to control the fever. Could be the transusions will help also...maybe he was just a bit "run down."
Great job, Hayes! That's awesome...out of the park! I met a friend of Hayes that is in Abby's class and he immediately recognized my wristband as a "Grier Band!" What a show of community support.
As always, let me know if you need anything at all...I'm out and about as usual. Thinking of you and hopeful that you and Grier make it home soon!
Happy Mother's Day to you, sweet friend!
Love and Prayers...
Dina
Amy,
Look at the bright side, there won't be any dreadlocks showing up at the door tonight!!!!
Hope you get some sleep.
See you tomorrow!
Luv ya-Trisha
P.S. Tell Hayes this picture is even better than the last one he showed me! Awesome Home Run!
Hope Grier is feeling better today and the fever is gone. Even though some of Grier's days are out of the ordinary and will continue to be, you are all handling them like pros and with lots of faith! Go Christenburys Go!
Happy Mother's Day to one of the strongest moms I know!!
Love and continued prayers,
Betty G
Happy Mother's Day Amy!!
I hope that today is a good day for Grier and that you are able to spend some family time with your children.
I hope to see you soon!
Love,Posey
Happy Mother's Day, Amy and Maggie! Hoping Grier can get outside with his family today for a greenway stroll. Sending you lots of love this special day.
Nancy
Happy Mother's Day Amy! All the Hendersons send you their love and hugs and kisses as well as hopes for a good day.
Happy Mother's Day Amy!!! and what a sweetie that Grier is. So good to see his smile and hear all he had to talk about today (which was a lot!) I do hope you remembered to take the bowling game up to his room; he mentioned it about 20 times!!! So funny--
Great news about Hayes's homerun, too. We loved seeing the photos.
Love,
Susan, Aubrey, and Henry
Amy,
Happy Mother's Day. So sorry that you ended up back in the hospital with Grier. I spent the weekend driving all over Wake and Franklin counties, and we made a trip to the zoo on Friday with Emma's class. I thought about you, because the last time I went, I think I met you there! It seems that Emma was in a stroller and Hayes was a toddler, and it was a hot and muggy day. Was that us? It seems so long ago. Call me when you can talk, I am not working on Mondays. I hope the counts are starting to rise. I'm thinking of you all.
Crystal
Hey there!
Thought of you, Amy so much yesterday! You are such an inspiration to all of us. Happy to hear he is getting the care he needs, and that you didn't have to go in the middle of the night.
Hoping that today is better and that he continues to get stronger.
Much love,
Hannah
Grier-
Thank you for showing my how to bowl today, and letting me hear the "thunder." When your legs get stronger, I will take you bowling with JackCharlie!!
Trisha
Amy, Your blog writing is wonderful. Thanks for keeping us all informed. Our hopes and thoughts are with you all. Thank you for putting up the information about neuroblastoma on the website. It sounds like a lot more research is needed to make this disease go away. Please put up a link to the CNCF so we can find out where to contribute toward continued research!
Much love and concern,
Linda M
Amy,
I just wanted to let you know that I am still praying for you every day. I wore my Go Grier Go bracelet all over Hilton Head last week while we were at the beach and Kailyn is enjoying wearing her hat! I also wanted to let you know that in Sunday School this past Sunday, we were talking about who we should pray for and Grier was the first thing I heard from the group! So, please know that love and prayers are being sent your way from all ages and all places!! Love to you all!
Love,
Lesley
