I want to mention something in the blog--- I am very thankful for the article that has been in the neighbors section and the follow-up article about Sunday's amazing celebration. But they keep forgetting a group that has been very supportive to our family -- that is First Presbyterian Weekday School-- Grier loved going to school there- and still gets visits from his teacher, Susan Leary. He actually is enrolled right now--- but has never met some of the friends in his new class-- we hope to make it one day this year. I get updates about school happenings and it makes me feel a little like a "normal" preschool mom-- and Grier gets mail from families and teachers he has never met from there-- The cutest thing was last week when a card came in the mail from little girl that was in his class last year-- she had drawn a picture for him and had a photo on the card of herself-- I asked Grier if he remembered who this is and he hesitated for a second and then said-- That is Ansley! I thought that was pretty good since he had not seen his preschool friends since the end of March- I have tried to give up our spot and I am repeatedly told -- there is a spot for him as soon as he can come back- Thanks FPWDS--for the little sense of normalcy, cards, visits, gifts, blog comments etc--
A friend suggested having a time to stop and pray on Monday for Grier and his surgical team--- I think that is a great idea- I still think about Hannah's time we had for her! Surgery will start around 9am--??? we are told the first 2 hours not much is happening-- So.. how about noon~? Thanks Staphanie G for the idea!!
The sun is coming up and Hayes, Grace and my mother will be here soon-- we will have a wet NYC day but I am sure we will have fun!
On a side note-- I hope the weather is beautiful in Charlotte-- I hear there is a big wedding today-- Sarah, Mary Ellen , and Elizabeth (and Steve :) )-- we are thinking of ya'll today-- I can not wait to see your wedding picture in the paper!! It seems like yesterday when you were in 5th grade at Park Road!!! :)

I am so happy you will be spending the day with your family all together. Enjoy today and I bet you will not even know it is raining.
I think a quiet time on Monday would be beautiful. It sure will be quiet in allot of places as everyone that knows and loves you says a little prayer.
Have a fun day and know we are always thinking of you.
Always in our hearts and prayers,
The Paine's
Have a wonderful weekend with Hayes, Grace and Maggie! I'll definitely be praying hard all day Monday, but especially around Noon!
Love & Prayers always,

Amy,
Indeed, FPWDS is a special place for Grier and as far as I can see they are ready with open arms the very day Grier is ready to come back:) So many moms/teachers have mentioned how much they think of Grier when they see the wristbands on myself and Mitch at carpool. Everyone there will be so excited when they hear of Grier's impending surgery!
I am so thankful that your mom, Hayes & Grace were already scheduled to come to NYC this weekend...I'm hopeful they will be a great distraction on Monday and that their hugs will help you maintain sanity. We will be thinking of and praying for sweet Grier this weekend and ALL DAY Monday:)
Many thanks to you for keeping everyone informed of your happenings! I go to bed and wake up thinking of Grier. How delighted I was to see a new blog this morning...I do somehow feel closer to you by being able to say "hello" or just being able to see Grier's adorable picture pop up.
Have a wonderful weekend with your family! Know you are all loved...
Love & Prayers,
Dina
Please know that I read the blog every day as you are always on my mind and in my prayers. I pray that the surgery will take place on Monday so Grier will finally be able to put all of this behind him.
Bonnie
We are praying and thinking of you during this difficult time! Monday will be a difficult day but just know you all have many, many friends that think of you each and everyday!! We will be praying hard on Monday and the days to follow!

Jeff and Amy,
We hope that you enjoy this weekend together as a family in NYC - despite the weather! We will continue to pray for all of you and will pray extra hard at noon on Monday. We just wanted you to know that we are thinking of you guys always and I hope that you can lean on the love and support that has surrounded your family over the next few days.
Love,
Matthew, Shannon, Abby & Makenna Deitz
Thinking of you and can't wait until you are all home. The weather in Charlotte is clearing up and it should be a beautiful day! The concert in Freedom Park was an amazing outpouring of love and support. We saw so many people from so many circles of friends. Your family is truly loved! Hayes told me he was excited for his flight, so glad you will all be together. We will be praying EXTRA on Monday. Take care and we love you all. The Stack Family
Enjoy your weekend with the family - I know you will. If there is ANYTHING we can do, please let us know, but we are definitely praying for all of you, especially on Monday! Hang in there and we can't wait to see Grier back in the front yard playing baseball. We missed seeing y'all last week, but did see Grace and your mom which was nice. It sounds like the trip to NY has been busy, but very successful.
Have a great weekend!
Hugs and lots of prayers from Sally, Pete and Molly!
Amy,
Also, I sure hope Grier is feeling well today after the very long day of aspirations that he endured yesterday. I am sure he's delighted to have Maggie in New York with him:) Hope you all are enjoying a glorious day together! The sun came out around 1pm and it's beautiful now. What a fabulous day to get married...congratulations Mary Ellen and family!
Love to you all, Amy...thinking of you always!
Dina
I can't tell you how many times I have thought about your family today. The boys sported their Go Grier Go hats, shirts, and bracelets all day today.(I have to quickly wash them, because they want to wear them on Monday.) All of my family and friends will be praying for sweet Grier at 12:00 noon on Monday. Enjoy your weekend with Grace, Hayes and Maggie-what a great city to be in!
Love &Prayers too!
Trisha
With Amy and Jeff's blessings,we have started a 'sign up' Prayer Chain for Grier. Please email hblanton@carolina.rr.com if you are willing to be a PRAYER WARRIOR FOR GRIER. We need you to commit to a few 30 minute or 1 hour time slots to pray fervently for Grier. (This is something great for your children to be a part of as well! )Our goal is to have continuous prayer for Grier before surgery , during surgery and days after while recovering from his surgery.
HI guys,
I was so happy when I heard the good news. I will being thinking about you and praying on Mon. Give Grier a big hug.
Love,
Christy Wisenor
Dear Amy and Jeff,
The Hazzard family is thinking about you all and especially Grier on Monday! We are so happy that you are all able to be together this weekend. Griffin is excited to hear about Haye's weekend in NYC. Griffin said to tell Hayes "Do not eat the gum off the streets. It tastes horrible" quoted from the movie "Elf".
We were truly touched by the outpour of love and support for you all at Freedom Park last Sunday. What a fabulous turnout and so heartfelt.
We continue to be blown away by Grier's strength and bravery. Actually, all of you are incredibly strong.
We are praying for you all and will be praying especially hard for Grier through Monday.
love from Merritt, Mark and Griffin
Amy,
Hope you had a wonderful day with your family. We had a beautiful day,and the wedding went off without a glitch. I will get some pictures to you. I hope you know you were never far from our thoughts and prayers. We had a long mass so allot of time to pray. We spread the word for prayers,so now we have so many more people praying for Grier. I know they are northeners but I hope you are alright with that.
Have a good day tomorrow and know you will be in our thoughts and prayers.
Lots of love,
The Paine's
Amy,
Waking up thinking of you, Jeff, Hayes, Grace and our sweetest friend Grier! Hoping you had a good day together in the Big Apple yesterday and that you enjoy another today as you wrap your mind and thoughts around tomorrow's "Big Adventure." Everyone here will be praying at Noon that Grier's surgery proceeds without incident. Your family is so very special to so many and we will do anything in our power to help in Grier's healing:) Take comfort in knowing that we are all with you.
Lots of Love & Prayers...

Thinking and praying for Grier, the family, and all the staff in NYC.
The DuPuys
We are with you all in spirit and will be praying for you at noon in the Chapel here at Covenant. As my mother would say, we are storming the gates of heaven for your little man Grier, your entire family and the medical team attending to him in NYC. We love you all so much.
On bended knee,
Anne Steppe
Susan Leary says:
I hope all the Christenburys are enjoying a beautiful day together in the Big Apple as you prepare yourselves for Grier's big day tomorrow!
I'm just back from a run and a visit w/Tucker. The life of a dog - asleep as 2:30 on a sunny day! But he rallied for some petting and rubbing and I let him know y'all have not forgotten him! The house looks very festive for Halloween!
Will have you in my heart all day tomorrow.
We are praying for you, all the surgical team, and especially Grier. May God bless you all in your rest tonight and in your waiting tomorrow.
Love, Lee, Cathy and Elliott Bradley
I am absolutely in AWE of how you are taking care of Grier and each other. Drew announced from the pulpit this morning that Grier's surgery will be tomorrow. You know that all of Covenant will be "storming heaven" for Grier, his surgeon, the surgical team and YOU. God bless each and everyone of you.
With love and concern.
Nora H. Kuester (Cody's Granny!)
All of us at ETES will be thinking of you in New York with love and special prayers tomorrow morning.
Love, Gale Kinney
We will be thinking of you all day tomorrow and the days that follow and pray that Grier's recovery is easy and pain free. We will spend our lunch at noon at The Catadel of St. John the Baptist praying and thinking of you all.
Hope your family weekend was full celebration and family time.
Peace be with you and yours
Netha and all from Charleston
Amy-
Whoops...I accidentally left my comment for today on Friday's blog...the last comment of that day. Anyway,I'll be praying!!!
Debbie O'Hara
Hey Amy and Jeff,
Hoping that you had some fun family time together this weekend. I have been thinking alot of your time/relationship with Hayes and Grace especially, and hope that you all got some special time in yesterday and today! I know this transition period is difficult on them too....and wanted you to know how much we are including them/praying for your limited/special time and your relationship with them.
WHEW...I think the Talley's gave it an extra whammy for you all today! The choir 'brang it on home' today with "A Mighty Fortress". Written by Martin Luther it is based on "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble..."
We will be praying all day, all week, and extra hard tomorrow around noon in the Covenant Chapel. Charles was throwing up late this afternoon....but we Blantons will be there at noon even if I have to have Charles sit outside on the sidewalk with bucket in hand! :)I know that half of Charlotte is praying for Grier and the prayer chain is being covered for continual prayer 24/7 for at least the next week for our sweet Grier.
Remember how much we love you and are behind you 100%. Hoping Dr. LaQ is preparing for bed about right now! Praying for his strength, discernment, and decisions too.
Hannah
Psalm 46: "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble..."
You will be in our hearts and prayers tomorrow and always. Stay strong as you know we are all behind you.
With great love,
The Paine's
Hello Christenbury's!!
Hopeful that you will be able to rest well this evening knowing that Grier is in the best possible and very capable hands of Dr. LaQ. Hopeful also that you enjoyed the weekend with the children and Maggie:)
Now part of the Prayer Warriors, rest well knowing that you are cared for in love and prayer non-stop for the next week. I will also be at Covenant with your "family" here in Charlotte so excited to pray for and support your sweet family and our beloved Grier! Amazing is your endurance and awe-inspiring is your faith and love.
To everyone who reads the other messages to find strength and faith, join Grier's Charlotte family at Covenant Presbyterian Church, W.Morehead St, Monday at noon and let's lift up Grier and the Christenbury family in love and prayer!
Grace & Love...
Dina
