Another day of tests-

Today was a busy day in the rain-- we started bright and early with Grier-- actually we were negotiating around 8am -- he needed to drink an 8oz glass contrast for the CT scan--! He got it all down and we headed to the hospital around 10-- we had to be there for fluids-- so you walk around with an IV pole of fluids for a few hours while you wait to get your scan-- At 11:45 we headed down to radiology and waited for anesthesia-- Grier was quiet-- people just cue up in the halls-- They called his name at 12:30 and we went in and he got his sedation for the scan- 10 minutes later he was done and awake-- they handed him to me and off we went! He was starving since he had not eaten since the night before at midnight-- so off we went for another turkey sandwich- Thank God Jeff is here-- because Grier really wants him instead of me-- and Jeff is chatting with everyone while I am just dumbfounded by what I am seeing and hearing-- I do better on the outside of the hospital-

We went to dinner tonight at John's Pizza-- Thanks for the tip-- Will and Anne!!!
Tomorrow we have another day of scattered appointments--

Well-- the Red Sox are on--- and I am going to try to change it!!! Sorry Michelle!! I think I will watch Private Practice-- I have not seen enough medical stuff today-

Thanks to everyone helping out at home-- especially my mother who has taken on full-time motherhood again-- but this time with two kids! Grace is having a hard time-- Unfortunately, cancer is taking the innocence of childhood from my other two kids as well as Grier-- but I hope they learn how generous people can be and how caring total strangers can be with this horrible disease as well-

Amy,

You sure are having every type of emotion possible thrust upon you and your family...I sure wish I could help. I am scheduled to bring dinner tomorrow and hope I bring something Grace & Hayes really like! Maggie will just have to suffer with Lucky Charms for dinner.

I did want to pass on a funny story from Mitch's party. He was in the middle of this parachute that they use at the end of parties, sitting in the middle. Willow asked him what song he might like to sing, knowing that she would suggest Happy Birthday. She said, "Mitch, how about Jingle Bells?" Mitch says, "Oh, I love that song!" The adults just laughed out loud and we all sang "Happy Birthday!" He's such a goof with such a love for life. I am so ready for Grier to be able to move on and enjoy the crazy carpool life, friend parties, and little kid things he's supposed to be enjoying...I know you all are more than ready as well.

I'm sure the hospital thing is overwhelming as everyone you see there has a similar condition rather than a urinary tract infection or broken leg. I remain hopeful that you will be able to embrace the surroundings knowing that the doctors and nurses there are so accustomed to patients like sweet Grier and you can be assured that he is in the very best place. You did make the right decision for Grier. It may not be the best of times for Hayes & Grace; however, you would do the very same for either of them as we would also do with our own children. Guilt is a vicious thing and I hope you're able to shed it "like water off a duck's back" because you and Jeff have done everything right for Grier and for your children. You're the best mom I know!

Hoping your sleep has gotten better and that you're growing accustomed to your temporary digs. Give me a "heads up" on the dinner thing if you have a moment tomorrow...call my cell.

Love & Prayers...
Dina

Amy the blogger and Grace the reporter -- she brings me the news from NYC every day. She was cheerful this afternoon at dismissal time and said she had had a good day, so I think things are going okay at school for her. Haven't seen Hayes this week so trust he is doing okay too. Coming to NYC this weekend will help all in the family!! Maggie told me yesterday that she and Grace are all packed -- excited to be joining you, Jeff, and Grier. Sounds like a typical hospital day for Grier except you're all so far from home -- I know he is taking it in stride like he always does.

Keep posting pics -- they are wonderful and Grier's smile lights up my computer screen every night! Hope you are finding doctors, nurses, and other MSKCC staff friendly, helpful, and gracious. I'm sure they know by now that they have a special family in their midst!

Sweet dreams tonight, good wishes and prayers for tomorrow.

Amy and Jeff, You are so incredible. You are holding everything together. Your strenght is remarkable and you will be rewarded for all the faith you have.
Tonight my family is here from N.J. and we talked about Grier while we had dinner at Manzettis. We have a big weekend but just know you will never leave our prayers or our hearts. We will have so many people praying for Grier.
Remember you are always with us and this weekend you will be in the hearts of so many more people.
We love you,

Hi Amy, Jeff and Grier,

It has finally rained!! Things will look much greener when you return...I am still on an emotional high from the GoGrierGO concert on Sunday afternoon, what a wonderful time. I am sure you felt the hope, love and faith that was sent northwards to embrace Grier and your family. Hope that Hayes and Grace will be comforted once they see MSK and the RMH. Prayers are sent your way from the Baders...

Keegan's latest blessing is "God our Father thank you for our blessings, thank you for Grier Amen!!

Amy,
I have to echo Dina. You are the best Mom I know! You have made all the right decisions for Grier, while making sure Grace and Hayes are cared for in the best possible way as well. Grace and Sally had a great time in choir last night and she is getting a lot of extra TLC from her Covenant family. Thank you for keeping us all updated.
Love,
Lesley

Well Amy if you did change the channell I'll tell you that last night's Red Sox game was not very compelling baseball. The Sox won 13-1. If you had watched you'd have seen shades of Whittington in the 5th inning when the Sox batted around for 7 runs ending with the Rockies walking 3 batters with the bases loaded. The Rockies needed someone like Hayes Christenbury to come in to pitch and shut it down!

We're so glad that you've been able to update the blog so frequently. And we're happy to know you'll all be together this weekend in NYC. We're sure there will be some good times mixed in with "everything else". I think you do an awesome job of balacing everything.
We're loving the pictures !
