Well it looks like Grier has an infection in his central line again--- I have not heard the exact name of the germ. The white line grew out something and the red line but they are not the same germ- Grier has a double lumen hickman~
His counts are still zero with zero ANC-- so his little body has nothing to fight infections. I hope to hear what the plan is when the rounding Doctor makes his visit-
Last Night went better than the night before-- it is all due to good nursing-- She didn't let the pump beep at all-- and was extremely quiet when she entered the room-- I bet she came in 20 times-- there is a lot of IV meds(5) going every 6-8 hours-- and then they do the normal stuff..like lab draws at 5am-- Grier slept better too- so it was a much better night-
Now the fun part-- Grier is suppose to do a sitz? bath because he says his bottom hurts-- it is not red but with an ANC that is zero his body does not have what it needs to go to the infection and attack it- so it will not be red or swollen until his levels go up- His freaks out when you change his diaper-- and this is unlike him-- last night at 11-- he woke up wanted his diaper changed and screamed so loud I had 3 nurses in here to see what was going on! Anyway he is not fond of the "bottom bath" as we call it- Today the goal will be to get him used to that to see if it makes him feel better. Probably too much info for some of ya'll-- sorry!

I'm sorry you are having a rough time, but I'm glad you were able to rest a little better. We continue to pray for all of you every day!
Love and prayers,
Lesley
Amy,
Hope the sitz bath does the trick today...Glad you both got some more sleep, hooray for a great nurse!
Isabel
Amy,
Not too much information for me...anyone who's had children will understnad the great benefits of a sitz bath. I sure hope it helps "little britches" to get back in the swing, poor thing.
So glad to hear your rest was better last night! Who was the nurse and when will she be back on duty? I hope every night you're there...she sounds amazing!
Here's hoping for more good rest today and tonight!
Lots of love and tons of prayers for our sweet friend, Grier!

Sorry to hear you are still looking for answers. We think of you every morning and every afternoon and all in between.
I remember those sitz baths very well. Hopefully once he figures out they help,he will feel better about them.
I wanted to walk with you in the Hopebuilders, but Sarah is getting married next weekend and I will not be here this weekend.
I remember when we first met the girls were young and you did not have any of your sweet babies yet..
So sorry to hear that Grier is having a tough day. I hope you are hanging in there. I was at CMC today and thought of you...I almost popped in but wasn't sure if that would be ok, given your lack of sleep, etc. I was doing a walk through (for work) of the new Levine Children's Hospital and if you haven't seen it yet, it is amazing - I think you will be hard pressed to find a room that puts you at a noisy intersection, like the one you landed in this visit.
Although I hope you won't have to spend much time there, if you do, it is truly an amazing addition to our city.
I hope that the doctor comes up with a good plan to get Grier back in business again!
Hope you both get some rest!
Tracy
So sad to hear of Grier's travails -- you could write a book full of evil things (infections and sitz baths) and heroes (Grier, Jeff, Amy, Grace, and Hayes)!! Hope he feels better tonight and will be even better tomorrow. Grace came by this morning, which reminded me I need to pick up my shirt at RFYL. Will look forward to seeing you on Saturday as we "walk for Grier and his Buddies." Very excited about the Fundraiser on the 21st -- will be happy to be there too!
Love, hugs, and prayers to you and Grier at CMC and to the rest of the family at home tonight --
Betty G
