A bad buzz!

Well we had some good results today-- they think the fever was caused by a urinary tract infection. So, the antibiotics that he is taking by IV should clear that up. His counts went from .1 to.2 today-- I was getting excited that they are starting to go up but I was reminded that it is a tiny difference--maybe just one extra cell that passed by at the time of testing-- If it continues to go up tomorrow than it will mean more. He still will not eat or drink-- we are trying everything-

Ross and I gave him a buzz-- we had to because the hair loss was driving him crazy-- it was all over his pillow and silkie- hence getting stuck on his face and he did not like that- Let me just say I will not offer my hair cutting service to anyone-- I will leave that to my friends at T.Reid!!

We are waiting for a few things to happen so we can try to leave again-- no fever, eating or drinking something, and in general feeling better-- My mom and I are getting better at the nights each day and being the advocate Grier needs right now-

Thanks for all the prayers- and well wishes--

ps .. pat- thanks for my treat today!! :)

Grier has a beautiful head! It is a good thing he is a C-section baby! Whan Davis was saying his prayers tonight he prayed that Grier gets some good Tylenol to feel better, a "cool" hat to keep his head warm and then he asked if he could share some of his hair because his is sooo big. I am praying for your life to be this simple again where Tylenol is the cure all. You Christenbury's and Janet are amazing! GO GRIER GO! Jeanna

We are thinking of you constantly and praying you'll be home again soon. All of the Beyers (except Thomas -- who knows what he would try to do with it) are wearing our GO GRIER GO bracelets. John, Laura, Mary John, and Thomas

Yay! I'm so glad his counts are up! I'm sure it won't be long before he'll be eating and yall will be at home again. :)
Jeanna's going to send me a "Go Greir Go" bracelet, so I might try and take a few pictures by the old well! Hopefully the weather gets better soon! I hear it's been pretty dreary there too.
Much Love and I can't wait to see you all, hopefully soon, happy and healthy!

Love and God Bless,
Julie

Dear Amy,

I'm so glad I had a chance to visit with you, Grier, Janet and Ross today. I must say you and Ross did a fine job for your first buzz cut. Although Grier seemed so content and comfortable lying on you in that chair, I was sad when I left the hospital because I just wanted to make it all go away! I meant it when I said you are an amazing Mom - always so patient and kind to all of your children. You are exhibiting such courage and strength not only to your family, but to all of us who are walking with you on this journey. I'm so glad you and Janet are getting tough down there and advocating for Grier...after all, you know him best of all and you have to follow those maternal instincts! Give 'em hell, Amy!! I hope his counts continue to rise and that nasty infection goes away so that you all are a little closer to home. We are pulling for all of you, praying for all of you and holding all of you close to our hearts every moment of every day. I was so excited when my family picked me up at the airport last night with my Go, Grier, Go bracelet. It really is a CONSTANT reminder to be thankful for the little things.

Lots of hugs,

Nancy

P.S. I sent you an email regarding the caps or call me when you have a minute tomorrow.

Dear Jeff, Amy, Grier, and Janet (hope i didn't leave anyone out)

Hi! This is Curtis. I have been out of town for the past week and had all of you on my mind. I have just read all the postings and caught up on everything. It's so wonderful to see the great support, encouragement and network of prayer that surrounds you. See you soon! Go Grier Go!

Amy,
I'm so thankful that you've found the urinary tract infection. How good it must feel to at least be able to extend relief for some of the pains that Grier has been feeling. I'm looking forward to seeing Grier...his smile is so captivating no one will notice that his hair has changed.
Praying every spare moment for relief and healing for all of you...Grier, you, Jeff, Janet. So very strong are each of you and an inspiration to us all. We'll look forward to higher counts tomorrow and pray for a second "homecoming" for Grier later this week!
Love and Prayers...
Dina

Hey,
I'm glad you know the source of the fevers, and that he got the buzz cut. His scalp will feel so much better over the next few days.Does he like the spikey feeling? I bet everybody is touching it! I hope he likes it. I remember cutting my dad's hair when he was hospitalized once or twice...I hope you did better than I did...:)Are Jeff and Hayes gonna buzz theirs too?

The Norvells want you all to know how much you have been in our thoughts and prayers. In between moving boxes, strep throat and spotty internet access we want you to know that we are thinking of you constantly. It was great to see Jeff and Grace as the drove by last week - Shields can't wait for Grace to come over and play and have some Chili Mac. Last Friday after lunch the kids could not wait to walk across the street to get their "Go Grier Go" bracelets. On the walk over Shields said "Mommy it is a good thing we live so close to Covenant now - we can be one of the first people to get a bracelet and show the Christenburys how much we care about them. "

We look forward to seeing you all soon and hope you know what an amazing family you are. We love you and are thinking of you everytime we look at our window and see the church.

Please know that we are here to help in anyway we can with even the smallest of requests.

Love and Prayers,
Killian, Daphne, Carter, Shields and Mac

Glad you found the cause of the fever. We pray for Grier every night with the girls, and many other times as well. And Sunday, we got our bracelets. Go Grier Go!

Dear Amy and Jeff-- Grier and your dear family are in my thoughts all the time. In such a short time, you have become your family's MD, RN, counselor, Rev., and now, barber.......all roles which I know you would trade in a heartbeat in order to just be simply parents. But I guess that is what, at its core, being a parent is...you are there to do whatever and be whatever Grier and your family needs. Rather than being called a parent though, I think perhaps you should start going by the name of Super Heroes....Wonder Woman and Superman perhaps?
Love, Alex
