Tuesday, April 2nd from Amy @ CMC
We met with the doctor last night and he confirmed the diagnoses of stage 4 neuroblastoma. This is what they told us last Tuesday but they wanted to run tests to be absolutely sure. We will start an aggressive treatment today ( Tuesday) unless blood counts are not good enough. We have decided to stay in Charlotte since the protocol is the same for the first part of this treatment and we have support here. Each treatment will be 3 days and then off 5-6 weeks-- He assures us that the pain he is in will get better with with chemo and we will see the old Grier peek through this week or next. Please continue to pray for G and his brother and sister as they adjust to this new situation.
Hayes and Grace will come today and learn in terms they can understand about treatment for Grier. We will meet with the child life team here as well as a person from the oncologist office-- That may be the 2nd hardest day--
Grier is in a better mood today-- he had a blood transfusion yesterday and he is not so sleepy. He is playing with a matchbox carwash/garage right now in his bed while watching Maisy and Wonder Pets-- and ate red jello with a spoon!
Thanks to everyone for EVERYTHING!!! We feel your love and support up here on the 7th floor tower!!
On a funny note-- Nibal brought the Jesus doll that Pat shares with kids when they are in need up here yesterday-- She put it on my feet while I was holding Grier... our nurse came in and was doing blood work and kept looking over at Jesus and said "wait until I tell my wife who was watching me today!" He was sitting on Anne's shoulder last night holding a palm-- so he is in the room bringing comfort to all-
So, the race begins today.. GO GRIER GO!!

Amy and family, you are all in my prayers as you begin the next part of this journey.

Amy & Jeff - My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family in this difficult time. I smile when I think of your family and I look forward to fun times in HH

Dear Amy and Jeff-
My thoughts are with you intensely today, especially as you talk with Hayes and Grace. It will be time for poignant conversation no doubt. You will be speaking from your heart and the children will sense that and find comfort in that sincerity and honesty. It's ok not to have all the answers for them. It's ok to let them know that you are confused and sad as well. You have always helped them know that they are not alone with their feelings and that is one of the biggest gifts you are giving your children during this time. The strength that has gotten you through this past week will carry you through this day as well. You are remarkable parents doing a remarkable job!
Love, Alex Bacon

Amy and family, It has been 3 years since we moved away from Covenant and the neighborhood but I still think of you often. I was truly saddened to hear the news about Grier. I will pray for healing for Grier and for peace and comfort for you, Jeff, Hayes & Grace.
Love, Heather Zucker
Our Father, which art in Heaven mighty God, through whom strength is made perfect in weakness, I pray to you, that you give Grier and his family the strength they need to hold on and stand for your glory. As we lift your name up higher you will continue to build up Grier and give strength to heal his body. You have said, that to your children who have no might, you will increase their strength. Grier is weak. Bless him with a measure of strength, When Grier daily work is too hard for him, give him the strength to be able to do it. You have helped so many, for so long now I ask you to help him. GO GRIER GO!!! God Is there with you. Thank you my Lord, our Father!
Love to you all,

Amy, Jeff, Hayes, Grace & Sweet Grier: Gary and I are praying for a very swift recovery for your darling boy. We carry you with us all hours of the day and night. We carry you in our hearts, knowing that God will care for all of you. Thanks for letting us be present with you in spirit through your updates. Our arms are wrapped tightly around all five of you,and we won't let go.
Spiritually and in Christ love,

Dear Jeff and Amy,
I second Alex in saying you guys are doing an incredible job as parents and I hope that today went as well as it could have with Grace and Hayes. Selfishly, I am so glad you will remain in Charlotte for Grier's treatment so that we can all support you and lift you up.
I can attest to the fact that Grier has a mighty army full of prayer warriors. Today during our Capital tour, we met two families from Charlotte (one a family from MP Trad and one from Beverly Woods) that have Grier on their prayer lists. I told them both to MOVE HIM STRAIGHT TO THE TOP!
We love you all and cannot wait for the day to see precious Grier running down the halls of Covenant dragging blue silkie!

All of Leah's family and friends in Eastern NC are praying for Grier and you. Leah has told us so much about your special family. May God be with you and give you strength at this time.
Love,
John and Rozanne McCotter
Dear Jeff and Amy - You are in our prayers here in Raleigh. I know it has been a long long time since I have seen you guys, but we are praying for you all daily and keeping updated through the blog. Our love and prayers are with your entire family.

Amy, Jeff and the kids:
We continue to pray and think about you. May the love of God be a source of strength and peace for you all.
Amy and Jeff,
There are so many people that love you all and are praying for all of you. I hope that you can feel the love and prayers for your family and know that your are surrounded by so many people that care for you. I also hope that that gives you strength in these next few days as Grier begins his treatment.
As my children have been saying "GO GRIER GO" all week!!!
Love, Posey and Scott
Amy and Jeff,
I am praying for Grier's recovery and for strength and peace for you and your entire family. I loved getting to know Grier at First Presbyterian Weekday School before I retired in January. He is precious and I'm trusting in God and his doctors for a cure.
Love,
Frances Campbell
Jeff and family,

Amy and Jeff,
I don't have to tell you what the Christenbury family has meant to my life since I was 15. I am sorry that you are going through this with Grier. I know it is hard to understand why, but I believe that God has his hand on everything that happens to us. I also believe that he will have his hand on Grier through this. It is amazing what can happen through the power of prayer, and as for my family, as well as the Back Creek Presbyterian Church family we will be praying for you and Grier that God will bring him through this. My family loves your family more than I can tell you.
Alan, Heather, Jordan and Maddie
Janet, we are Kirk and Kathryn Clark, sister and brother in law to Martha Ellington. She ahs informed us of little Grier's illness. Please know that we will have you, the family and expecially Grier in our prayers. We also have a very powerful prayer chain and group here is our little town. All ofyou will be there and we must believe in prayer..it does work. God Bless each one of you. K&K
Jeff, Amy and family,
We, as well as many others, are praying for Grier at this time. We pray that God would heal his body and give you all comfort and strength during this difficult time.
Tripp & Lesley Crosby
To the Christenbury family...
Our hearts go out to you and all of you extended family. We pray everyday for God to give you the strength and courage to cope with each day. If I can help with Hayes and Grace in any way, please let me know.
With all my Love, Beckie Ennis
