Spoke to soon—We are back @ CMC after being home for 1 hour!

Well- today started with a platelet transfusion— Grier did not feel like eating today and was the quietest he has been since we got here—I did not think he felt well at all! Around 3pm the Doctor came in to talk about discharging us- Everything was set in motion and we were in our car around 5:15- We were at home for about an hour and Grier started crying a little- he was very hot so we took his temp—and he had a fever—I called the number I am suppose to call and they said to bring him up to the Tower to let them look at him—We arrived back at CMC around 7 and they said with a fever we should expect a stay of 3 days- So—we are back in our old room – Needless to say I was very excited to be home for an hour and then the bubble popped for all of us-
Did anyone else notice today is Friday the 13th?

Amy,
Its about 12:15 on Friday night and I just got home from a mission trip to Gulf Port, Mississippi. I haven't had email access all week, so I logged on to see how Grier was doing. I was sorry to hear you only got to be home with Grier for an hour. It just must not have been meant for him to be at home yet. Hopefully, after his fever breaks you will get to take him home for a nice long stretch. Until then, just trust that he is where he needs to be and that God has angels watching over him.

Tell Jeff I said happy belated B-Day. I think Kristie and Crystal and I have postponed our trip until a later date. We felt like you guys needed some rest right now and because we thought you were gonna finally get to go home. I really wish I was there just so I could give you a big hug or maybe just plop down beside you like I did every morning when we were in school....even though that always drove you crazy!!! I love you all sooooo much and I am praying for Grier and you and Jeff every day, as are many other people here in Marion. Remember....I am not that far away and if you needed me for anything, all you have to do is pick up the phone and I'll be right there. I am so glad to see that you have your church family to lean on and support you right now, even though I wish I could be near you all too. Just keep trusting on God and he will give you the grace you need to see this thing through. Lots of love to all of you.
God Bless,
Debbie

The Sick Child

Child-- O mother, lay your hand on my brow!
O mother, mother, where am I now?
Why is the room so gaunt and great?
Why am I lying awake so late?

Mother-- Fear not at all: the night is still.
Nothing is here that means you ill.
Nothing but lamps the whole town through,
And never a child awake but you.

Child-- Mother, mother, speak low in my ear,
Some of the things are so great and near,
Some are so small and far away,
I have a fear that I cannot say.
What have I done, and what do I fear,
And why are you crying, mother dear?

Mother-- Out in the city, sounds begin
Thank the kind God, the carts come in!
An hour or two more and God is so kind,
The day shall be blue in the windowblind,
Then shall my child go sweetly asleep,
And dream of the birds and the hills of sheep.

-Robert Louis Stevenson (1850-1894)

Dear Amy and Jeff,

I am so sorry to hear that "Home, Sweet, Home" was just a tease, but Grier is where he needs to be, in the best care. We continue to lift all of you up and pray specifically for Grier's comfort and healing. We love you all and hope you will be able to spend a nice, long, healthy stretch at home before round 2. With you in spirit,

Nancy, Ralph and girls

So sorry to hear that you are back in the "Tower" but know that Grier is in good hands and hopefully the days will pass by quickly.I am glad that you got "the suite" back! That was lucky for Friday the 13th! Will keep our fingers crossed that your next trip home with sweet Grier will be longer.
Hang in there! We are all hoping and praying that you all will be together at home soon.

Amy,

So filled with disappointment when I thought of you being home and having to turn back around with all of your belongings and head back down the street. However, I'm certain you felt a comfort in knowing that Grier was taken care of immediately...you're so close to his medical caregivers.

Here's to hoping that Grier was well enough to notice how awesome home is...maybe this will give him the boost he needs to wear his mask and take a few steps. Sweet boy is in our prayers and we're praying that his discomfort fades and the healing begins very soon...he deserves that...and so do you and Jeff...you do.

The children keep asking if Grier is coming home as if they are planning to take a trip to your house immediately following...maybe they just know how comfortable home is and want that so much for Grier and for you...little minds are amazing! I'm sure you're seeing this ten-fold with Hayes, Grace and Grier.

Praying for and loving you all!

"Being TESTED"

Amy and Jeff,

So sorry to hear this news. My heart was so heavy when I heard this. I know how much you want to be home with Grier (and Hayes and Grace).

Soooo.... Charles and I were going out for a much needed date tonight.(missing our usual Saturday night Christenbury spottings at our favorite spots!)While we were getting ready, Brown decides to jump really high up and down on our bed "like the monkeys!". We quickly reprimended him, and he took one sassy look at us, pulled our comforter off one side of the bed and spit on it! WHOO..I half smiled/while biting my lower lip and tongue...and looked at Charles..who quickly grabbed him and rushed him to 'time out'. Many, many times I think of you and how much I know you would love and give anything to see Grier jump like a monkey and even spit on your bed! I have faith (and in my prayers) that he will be jumping like a monkey and spitting on your bed very very soon. :)

Brown will have to give you and Grier a big hi/five and thank you oneday for not having his hiney worn out! during this terrible 2 testing time. Brown is really testing us.It is a testing time for all of us.

I know you are exhausted. I can't imagine the troubles you feel and how you are feeling your faith being "tested". Please remember how much we pray for Grier and all of you all day long!

Jeanie spent the night with Virginia last night and Virginia was quick to show (bragging) her "Go Grier Go" bracelet. Of course we gave her one and they wore them proudly to Charles' soccer game this morning. Charles was thrilled that it matched his uniform!

During this extremely tiring and difficult time...and if you ever feel you are being 'tested', please remember His love for us and how He is closer NOW than ever to you and embracing you with his love and compassion. We send many hugs, smiles and continued prayer.

Hannah, Charles, Virginia, Charles and Brown

ps...We now officially say "Go Grier Go!" after each blessing at every meal! :)

Psalm 26:1-3 ...I have trusted in
the Lord without wavering. Test me, O Lord, and try me, examine my heart and my mind;for your love is ever before me, and I walk continually in your truth.
