Chemo is going well-- he is still eating and drinking so that is a good sign... I am just waiting t see him gain weight! I am told he will soon but I would love to see it ASAP-- he is skin and bones--
Tomorrow-- we should get to leave after the dose of Topetecan?--- we will get to spend the night at our house and then head to the clinic for the last dose on Thursday-- Then the fun will begin-- waiting for the counts to drop and giving daily shots of Neupogen-- Did I mention I never liked shots much less giving them to my child!!! AHHHH! I am told it is so easy .. like sticking an orange-- Well, maybe a screaming, moving, skinny orange??? I am sure we will be good at it in no time-- and Grier can just hate me for this too!!! Dressing Changes, shots.. horrible medicine-- what else can his mom do--? I hope all of this cures him... and it is all a distant memory for him someday-
Grace went to Hannah Montana tonight-- it was not planned at all!!! They came up to the hospital and we were trying to decide who was going where and with who-- our normal juggling routine-- and I asked her if she wanted to go see Hannah Montana-- I saw on the computer that ticketmaster had seats-- so at 5:30-- we got tickets and she and Jeff set out to the 7:00 concert! We are really good at being flexible ... actually better than planning these days!

Go, Grier, Go!!! So grateful that the chemo is going well. If you can think of ANYTHING that he would like to eat that would be high calorie just name it and it will appear. CouldI help you Christmas shop? I am good at it and can find almost the "impossible" present. It would thrill me to do some of it for you!!
..... and Grace at the Hanna Montana concert... wow!!
Love and constant prayers for each of you.
Mrs. D.
Wow! Can't wait to hear about Jeff's concert! I know Grace loved it -- I saw lots of girls and their moms on their way when I passed through downtown this afternoon! That's one more reason for me to be inspired by the Christenburys -- Jeff took Grace to see Hannah Montana!! WOW!!
Sooooo glad treatment is going well for Grier! Don't worry -- he'll put the weight back on once he can. After all, turkey builds muscle not fat!
Hoping and praying that you'll be home tomorrow night to sleep. Kids (even grown ones like mine) always remember the bad things parents do -- only we know it is in their best interest!
Prayers and love to you tonight!

Amy,
Just a little rmeinder. I know you feel you are torturing Grier with all the meds, shots, and treatments but this horrible disease is doing that. You and Jeff are fighting it with him. From what I can see you are doing exactly what parents do. EVERYTHING in your power to help him. Someday and probably even a little now he will see what you have done. I feel he knows these things hurt you too. I know you must be worn down and exhausted and now the holidays but remember you are amazing and so many of us are in ahh at you and your family. When continue to pray for strength for you.
So happy to hear about the Hannah Montana concert what fun for the two of them.
Just FYI I understand how hard it is to see your child so thin. So many times Athan's weight was so low. I have many tricks for high calorie low quantity foods. Athan would never drink pediasure. I can get a cup of choclate milk up to 350 calories with some vitamins included. We use a great prescription powder daily that has no taste and major calories, it is called Duocal. We mix it in everything.
Glad Thanksgiving was nice for you. Just hang in there, you are all just amazing. Please know the prayers have not stopped!!!
Much love,
Stephanie G.
A mom like you can only be loved. It will all one day be behind you and Grier will understand what a wonderful family he has been born into. He will look back and realize how much you love him.
I am so happy Grace got to the concert. I know Jeff loved it. What a great thing for her to be able to do.
Well I will keep my fingers crossed for the day to go as planned.
As always you are in our hearts and prayers.
Love,

Are you kidding me? You are truly amazing swinging Hannah Montana in an hour and a half!!!! GO AMY GO!! Grier will love you no matter what. Maybe, you could turn that dreaded daily shot into something fun, like a daily lolipop. At least it might muffle a cry or scream :). Take care sweetie. Love, Victoria
