Grier had his NG tube taken out this morning-- and was able to start clear liquids! He had some apple juice and ice chips-- and a few bites of an Italian Ice-- He did ok with all of it until around 6:30-- and he got sick again- So, we are back to ice chips only !! He keeps telling me he is hungry and thirsty-- Poor Thing! He did walk to the play room and played with the cash register this time-- He is watching Curious George-- we have almost worn out the CD that was made from PBS-- now he is on to Maisy and other noggins shows~ really anything on DVD is good-- no commercials!!!
Jeff and I just switched so the tag-team parenting continues-- Honestly-- I may have to send him home if we are here much longer-- Someone has to work!!
We have a new roommate-- she is very cute--her mom thought the same thing about this room!! I mentioned it to the doctors and he said after we get out of here we will not even remember this part-- Well- It would be nice to have windows and space while we are here! And I do have a very good memory :)

No Windows...no wonder. Here that wouldn't even qualify as a licensed bed in a hospital. Well at least the surgeon was good. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a nausea free night.
Hooray for the NG tube coming out! Boo for the still slightly upset tummy! SOON, Amy, SOON he will be eating, drinking, playing, talking non-stop, running, and best of all, playing baseball in the front yard again!
Sounds like today was a little better with playing and drinking a bit. I bet the little guy IS thirsty after a week of not much to drink. Maybe a little coke to settle that stomach once and for all!
Glad that you and Jeff are each getting some down time, at least to sleep. Without a window, your only glimpse of daylight, weather, comings and goings is on your walks to and from the Ronald. It will be cold in the morning for you -- it is supposed to be down to 30 here tonight! Bundle up!
Tammie Krug told me Grace "Aced" her animal report and did a fantastic job reporting it to the class today. She didn't read it, but told it from memory -- you , Jeff, and Maggie should be so proud!! And Jeff was worried about her reading in Kindergarten!!!
Here's to another good day tomorrow with more than ice chips for Grier. Sleep well tonight and know that you are constantly in our hearts and prayers here at home.
Love, hugs, and warmth to you, Jeff, and Grier,
Betty G
Hi Amy. Another small step forward. HOORAY!!! Campbell went home with Hayes and had a great time.Slugger Fest (Play Station 2) is apparently now going on our Santa wish list. Also, he thought it was so cool that Hayes and Grace call their Grandma, "Maggie" and Campbell says "that's not even her real name!" Over Thanksgiving I think he is going to attempt giving my Mom a "name". Hopefully Grier will be able to drink more tomorrow. A few days ago we were praying for sleep, which came, now our prayers will be for nutrition. It all can be done, my friend. Take care and we miss you. The Stacks
Amy,
So glad that, for Grier's sake, the NG tube has been removed! Sorry about his continued nausea:( Sure hope that gets better overnight...maybe a bit of rest for the tummy and he'll be able to move on to more liquids and soon crackers!
I am so glad that Jeff is there with you. I know someone has to work; however, you would barely be keeping your head above water without the "tag team" offense you've got going. Hopeful that you'll be heading back to Charlotte soon for the next phase real soon...it will certainly be much easier here to have coverage for Grier without completely exhausting Mom & Dad.
Glad to hear to have a new neighbor...it's always nice to see a sweet and friendly face and one that understands and feels the same as you on the room front, etc.
Constant prayers for continued healing/comfort, rest for you and Jeff, and food and happiness for Grier:):):)
Love & Prayers...
Dina

Poor Grier, nothing worse than being hungry and not being able to eat. Hopefully today he will turn the corner. I am sorry you are in a place with no windows. Hope to have you back in Charlotte soon.
Everyone I talk to is really sending up many prayers. Hopefully today will be the day little Grier gets them.
Take care of yourselves.
As always you are in our hearts and prayers.

Amy,
I hope today will find Grier able to eat and feeling up to playing in the play room more.

Anne
Hang in there! I know you must be ready to get home and be with the rest of your family. Our fingers are crossed that this happens sooner rather than later. We are thinking and praying for all of you daily - especially little Grier. All our best!
Lots of hungs!
Sally, Pete & Molly Brown
Go Grier Go!
