This has been a really long day-- almost the whole day was spent in the room-- Grier has taken several naps today-- He does not have much energy and does not want to play- We are trying to get him to eat-- and that is a challenge-- he did takes some sips of a milkshake today- He asked for a pancake for dinner-- but as soon as we got it-- he did not like that idea- We think the laxative is giving him stomach cramps-- but really have no idea since he will not tell us- He did go to the drink machine a few times-- so that was good to get him walking again-

The Charlotte family will be here tomorrow-- maybe he will perk up for them- I hope so-- because this will be an extra LONG weekend with all of us in this tiny room-- I wish I had some TPN to hook him up to-- he is getting so tiny again-

Sorry it was such a long day. I hope everyone sleeps well tonight and that Grier wakes up feeling better and hungrier! Enjoy having your family together this weekend. We will keep you all in our prayers, as usual!

So sorry for your extra long day; however I'm sure Hayes, Grace, and Maggie will brighten his next 3 days! I do hope you all rested well (or at least better) last night in the peace and quiet of the Ronald.

I know how you feel about him not eating -- Brian was so small and such a fussy eater that one time we almost choked him trying to shovel yogurt down him!! Unfortunately, you really can't make them eat when they don't want to -- I'm sure Grier will gain the weight back when he feels better. Maybe he'll feel up to the turkey sandwich soon!

Hopefully you and Jeff will have a diversion tomorrow with the SUPERSIBS there -- you will appreciate H&G so much after not seeing them for almost 2 weeks -- that's a long time at their ages!!

Hope your weekend is fun for everyone and especially uplifting for Grier! Keeping fingers crossed for a superb checkup on Tuesday!!

Love and prayers from my heart to yours tonight,

Betty G

Dear Amy-
I thought abt you, Jeff and Grier a million times this week. Our household all came down w/ a stomach bug and it having been a while since nausea and throwing up had hit our home, the dreadfulness of it all came quickly back... and all the while I kept thinking abt Grier and how when he suffers those symptoms, it's so much worse and for such a longer time. And then I thought abt you and Jeff ongoingly supporting him when he feels so miserable and worrying about him, I just was again awe struck by all that you do every day in your caring for Grier, and all the strength and patience you channel from God knows where (and he probably does know from where) and basically, in a nutshell, I just think you and Jeff are remarkable, and that Grier is a champ. I hope the weekend brings some welcome distraction from the drugery of these recovery days. You Christenburys rock!
Love, Alex

Thinking of you and hoping that Grier will be able to eat good things again soon. I am sorry that today was a long day but I am glad that you are all together in a room with windows. I hope that Grace, Hayes and Maggie’s visit will help everyone feel better.

Still thinking and praying for all of you all the time. You truly are an amazing family.

Hope tomorrow is a better day!

Amy, I have been keeping up with the site to watch Grier's progress. I'm hoping they bring him home already! Poor fella.. We asked if you guys were there when we were in on Wednesday. They didn't have you at the hospital. Maybe you were at the Ronald. We just signed up to with MSKCC for Isabella and are kind of scared. Let me know if you have some time for a quick chat when you have some down time. Wanted to ask you some questions about Grier. Didn't know about putting my number up on the site so drop me an email and I'll send it to you. erinrsantos@yahoo.com

Dear Amy,
I've been out of town most of the week so missed getting your daily reports but surely kept Grier and all of you in my prayers. I was glad to return and find that you were back at the RMc. House, and that soon you'll be home. BUT I'll be glad to hear that Grier has a better day tomorrow because of the company coming! May you all wake up to a better day!
Much love to all of you. Continued thanks for the gift you give us all by your taking the time to share your journey with us.

Sorry to hear Grier is having such a rough time. Hopefully Grace,Hayes and Maggie will be the answer. Maybe some fresh air will also help.
I hope you get to go out and enjoy a little bit of the city.
Every night before I go to sleep I pray for Grier and every night when I wake up several times I pray for Grier. I hope and pray some of those prayers are answered today and Tuesday.
As always you are in our hearts and prayers.

Amy,

I am sorry for the very long day at the Ronald. Sure hopeful that today will be a MUCH BETTER day! I'm sure Grier will be excited to see Hayes & Grace again...I can only imagine how bored he is if you're ready to jump out of your skin. Let's hope he perks up a bit and is anxious to show them around.

Arlene and Beth say "hello!" Arlene's dog is named Billy Walker...she's got a teeny video on her cell phone of him. A proud mom already. She took him for a trial period and has decided to keep him...he won her over. She wants to get him some of those rain boots like you were talking about:)

Looking forward to hearing that your day and weekend are much better...as I know you are also! Hopeful that Grier continues to get stronger and more excited about food and moving around. What a huge recovery this is however for such a wee little person. Grier is on our thoughts non-stop with love.

Love to you all this weekend...
Dina

Sure hope you were able to get some sleep last night, or at least more than you got Thursday night! Praying that Grier's pluming starts to work, and that he will want to play when Hayes & Grace arrive today. Enjoy the slumber party, and the great view from your windows at the Ronald - HA!
Hugs to you all!

I know you are looking forward to Greir seeing his brother and sister! I know that will perk him up - maybe some extra energy will mean extra activity and he'll work up an appetite. I am so glad you were discharged... I hope time at the "Ronald" goes fast and you are back home in Charlotte soon.

Love and Prayers,
Anne Steppe
