Last Night was the longest ever-- Zofran did not help at all with his nausea--- Finally they called the "fellow" and she called for an x-ray-- At 1:00am they wheeled us down for 2 x rays-- The good news was no blockage-- the bad news he was still vomiting ! So after they tried a different nausea med.. they came in at 3:00-- to put the NG tube back in. YUCK! That was suppose to be the cure all but he continued to get sick. The tube was not working for some reason-- Finally after many trips in here and a 3rd nausea med-- they got the tube to work. This all happened around 5:30! Then vitals after that-- Needless to say it was a night from H***! He is still sleeping right now-- Jeff is at the Ronald and I will go there later. Some friends decided to come visit today so the plan was to get out of here for awhile with them-- Hmm-- I am either going to have to sleep or load up on caffeine! I was told to expect set backs so I guess I am not surprised--

So sorry to hear that the night was a long one. You are right however that today is a brand new day. Isn't it wonderful that God planned it that way! There is no way to go but up:) We are all hoping that Grier feels better very soon and that you and Jeff can get some much needed rest. The prayers and loving thoughts coming your way are endless.
Love,
The Shulstads
Amy,
So very sorry that last night for so awful for you and Grier. You are amazing when you mention expecting the setbacks. I sure hope that he is able to rest now without getting sick. I know you have relief coming in the way of Jeff; however, Grier needs to be able to rest to heal. Ever-so-hopeful that his body is able to heal a great deal today and tonight without any more major setbacks.
Here's to sleep for you today at the Ronald...I sure hope it's quiet enough during the day for resting. Then again, you just need to be left alone and could probably fall asleep on a sheet of plywood after the activity you had last night.
I am hopeful that today will bring rest for everyone and a bit of adult time for you as you visit with friends today in the city. It's sure cold...I hope you're prepared...gloves? scarf? big coat? It's only 37 degrees here this morning and is expected to go up to 66 mid-afternoon...cold by our standards. Enjoy your time and just think how good it will feel to sleep tonight!
Many, many prayers for Grier that he is able to rest and heal...sweetest boy in the world!
Love & Prayers...
Dina
Dear Amy and Jeff,
I don't know you personally, but my husband went to school with you and I have followed your journey over the past months through your blog. I hope you know there are so many people who are praying for your family and Grier! Our thoughts are still with you through his recovery and I hope things start getting better.
Take care,
The Vickreys
I am so sorry to hear it was such a rough night. Maybe when he wakes up the meds really will have worked. We will pray for that.
I hope you get some rest so you can get out for a bit. It would be nice for you to have a change of scenery.
It is cool in Charlotte today but very sunny. I am sure Grace and Hayes will get out and play.
Thinking of you always.

Amy,
Oh I just pray today is a better day. So many things to deal with. I am sure you are completely emotionally and mentally exhausted. Some how you just keep going when it is your child. I pray the vomiting does not come back and you can all just rest. I know you have many decisions in front of you and they seem more clear when you have had some SLEEP! I pray sweet Gier has some peace today with no poking and more tubes so he can catch his breath and rest!!!
Know that we continue to pray and constantly think of you all. Andrew and Athan ask how Grier is daily. Please know if Jeff needs to go back for a few days I would be more than happy to come any day and spend the day with you two. I could be your runner, get you whatever you need, do laundry, produce just about any toy or movie or just sit with you.
We pray for a better day!!
Stephanie G.
We are routing for your entire family as we watch Grace play today. It is a gorgeous fall day and I know we will all watch the team together in the Spring!
I had a paralytic Illius after a cesarean OUCH! UGH!! the tube and time really helped, but how can a three year old understand?
Thank god time passes!

So sorry about your evening and hoping you can go to the Ronald and get some much deserved rest. We all continue to pray for you as we know you have many decisions and many things to consider. Everyone in Charlotte thinks of you constantly and is sending you a tight hug from afar.
Looking forward to seeing Grace at soccer as are all the Gray Dolphins. Wish we could do more. We miss you all.
Hoping your talk with Dr. L will give you the guidance and persepective you need. So many people have been touched by you all these months and so many had already by touched by you before this happened.
Love
Killian, Daphne, Carter, Shields and Mac
Hang in there! We are hoping and wishing for y'all to have a better day and night. It sounds like it can only get better from here. Our fingers are crossed and we are sending tons of hugs and prayers your way.
Love,
Sally, Pete & Molly Brown
Nothing like a night of NG tubes, nausea and X-rays to make for a LONG night. We will hope you get some rest today/tonight and hopefully a more comfortable day for Grier!!! We continue to lift your family in our prayers, The Bradley's
So glad the vomiting is now under control -- things have to get better now that some peace has come for Grier. Glad you are getting away from MSK for at least a little while -- the fresh air and cold temperatures will be good for both you and Jeff. Hope it will be soon that Grier gets to feel that cold weather either on his way to the Ronald or on his way home to a warmer Charlotte. Thanks for the many blogs that keep us abreast of Grier, you and Jeff -- it means the world to all of us who would like to do so much for you! By the way, it's National Blog Posting Month and you win the prize for the BEST-EVER blogger!!!
Wishes for peace and comfort for Grier, a happy time with friends for you and Jeff, and most of all, sleep and rest for you! The Ronald will look and feel like the Taj Mahal tonight after what you endured last night!!
Love from my heart to yours, Jeff's, and especially Grier's!

How in the world are you able to make me laugh and cry in the same entry! I can hear your voice when I read what you write. I am so sorry that you and Grier pulled an allnighter..but that is great he has no blockage. Maybe the tube will help now that it's working. Go find a closet, take a pillow with you and put your face in it and scream..you will feel better. Or better yet. I wish I were there to give you and Jeff some respite, but I know you wouldn't leave for long anyway. Keep being a bulldog! Go Amy!
Hope all of you were able to get some rest and that today was a better day.
Troy

I am so sorry you have had some set-backs. We are off to church and will say lots and lots of prayers for all of you. Prayers are always powerful, but when gathered as a group to pray for you, those are the best! Know we love you all!

Oh Amy, what can one say? SO sorry you had such a bad night... I wish I could write something that might make you feel better! I can only continue to say we never stop thinking of you and praying for you as you undergo this unbelievable emotional roller coaster. Grier WILL feel better soon and you WILL get some sleep and yet, tomorrow is another day and it WILL be a good one!

Amy and Jeff:
So sad to hear that Grier is having a rough time. Being nauseated is just the worse. Will continue to constantly pray for him to be pain and nausea free so that he can rest and heal. If there is anything that the ETES family can do for Hayse and Grace, please let me know and it is done. Wish we could relieve you and Jeff for a few hours so that you can rejuvenate. You are both amazing.
Love and prayers,
Mrs. D.
Oh Amy, I am so sorry that your weekend has been so terrible. I hope that Greir has stopped getting sick - poor little guy. I hope that today has been a better day for you all.
Grier and your entire family are on so many prayer lists - I know those prayers are being heard and will be answered.
Again, I hope you will have better nights SOON and that things will turn a positive corner for you all these next few days.
Love,
Anne
