He feels like "POO" in the POU!
Grier is still doing OK-- I decided to update earlier today since I forgot a lot of stuff yesterday-
He moves his legs-- Today PT will come in and get him up and on his feet- He still has tons of tubes in and knowing Grier that is driving him crazy- He has a catheter, NG tube, cannula for oxygen, chest tube and tons of monitors-- so he is hooked up! Last night he was very uncomfortable and we could not figure out why-- he had just had a medicine for pain-- and it ended up that he felt the tube from the catheter and saw it -- After we covered him up he was better-- His swelling is down a little and they say after he gets up a little everything will get better and tubes will start coming out-
He did not sleep great-- he was up humming every 30-45 minutes but easily calmed back down-- This is probably not pain but just nerves because the change of rooms-- and the difference between the two- He is calm right now- watching Micky Mouse-- Yesterday the show of choice was Elf-- and Kicking and Screaming-- He must really like Will Ferrell-
So, the plan for today is to get him up-- sounds easy but it is very hard to watch- From what I hear PT is going to be good here- They will also continue to do chest compressions-- And hopefully this will help his lungs and in turn get the fever to go away-
I had the best chair bed here!! I guess I have slept on enough to rate them but I sure hope the new LCH has this kind-- it is more comfortable than the bed at the Ronald!
The NY Marathon is Sunday- Everyone around here is talking about it-- lots of doctors and nurses will be running in it- They run right by the hospital- Too bad Mrs. Hayles is not running in it this year--!!
That is it for now-- this room has the perfect name "POU" because you feel like "poo" if you are in here!

Well yes, of course he feels like POO - poor sweet thing. But he is moving so fast and he'll have all those yucky tubes and wires off in no time. Bet he teaches those PT folks a thing or two!
Hope today is better and hope that y'all are getting some sunshine in NYC.
Love you all.
Nibal and the gang.
Hi Amy,
Boy Grier is recovering fast!! I pray that he will be off the tubes soon and his pain will ease. Glad you had a comfy bed/chair...
love Isabel
Amy,
Hopeful the PT will get things headed in the right direction...sweet thing, and get those tubes out! Sounds like he will be a lot happier without the "hook up!"
Had 2 conferences this morning, now going to Fort Mill Dermatology for Abby, then on to a 2 o'clock appt for Mitch, then on to soccer scrimmage at 5pm for Abby. Non-stop here; however, we're thinking of Griernon-stop as we move through our day! Looking forward to hearing about his requests for baseball gear when he's up to it!!
Hope you day goes well...slow and steady...he's doing so well!
Love & Prayers...
Dina
Dear Amy and Jeff -
Thank you for keeping everyone informed of Grier's progress. The ever-expanding world of people who love and care for you all want to know how you are doing and what they can do to help. The one thing we are all doing is praying, praying, praying. The power of all those prayers is present everywhere I go - church, school, neighborhood - everywhere. I am confident that it has stretched up the Eastern Seaboard and followed you to NY.
I am happy to hear that the surgery went well and that Grier continues to be an "overachiever." I know you are all looking forward to getting him unhooked (and back into his favorite pajamas!) I am also glad to hear that you were able to get some rest in the comfortable chair bed.
Much love,
Jackie, Sean, Madeline and Reilly Jones
Amy,
Sorry to hear about the POO. But it sounds
like overall Grier is doing well and being a real
trooper with all that he is going through. You are
all in our thoughts and prayers each day. Jex said
a wonderful prayer for Grier at dinner Monday
night. Hang in there and know that we are all
pulling for you.
Love,
Rusty, Fielding, Riley, Jex and Hoyt
Amy,
It's all so encouraging!
I can't wait til he is tube-free and takes off with his PT... once again Grier will amaze another medical team with his never-ending courage and tenacity!
Prayers that everything continues to progress well for you all!
Love
Anne
Sorry he feels like Poo. Hopefully getting up and about will make a difference. Mrs. Boyce,Mitch and I had a little prayer time yesterday. That Mitch really knows how to pray. We will continue doing that and thinking of you.
Always in our hearts,

Amy, Jeff & Grier-
We are filled with hope and love for you guys! We are living on the daily blogs...I don't know how you have managed to keep it up...we are all so grateful that you do! I ended up at Wal-Mart (as it is the only thing opened at such a late hour) last night and decided that I should pick Will up some much needed boxers (where do they all go?) and I found myself staring a an unbelievable inventory of 'Cars'and Lightning McQueen jamies and undergarments, with a large smile on my face (Go Grier Go!)We carry you with us on all of our journeys!
Peace & Love (and thanks!)
Ashley, Michael, Hannah, Will & Mary-Kathryn
